AK's perfected it.  Everyones copying it!

I think it is funny watching 30+ planes 'sneak' across the water.

This is not a rant btw, i like it in the game.  Just an observation.  I want to hear what others have to say about this change in the MA.

Its getting a little silly, especially over water were the radar sets are more than capable of picking up these cons.  Even more so since we almost always have clear weather making it easier to pick out the contacts from background clutter.

Over land, especially hilly terrain, i buy it, but not over open ocean.

Please ... I don't know where you have been the last 2 tours.

AKs may have perfected it for their country, but I don't think that any one squad could claim to be the first and everybody else is copying it.

The MAW and other Knight squads have been doing it for some time now. This type of raid is more prevelant in the Mindano map because of the logistics of trying to make an "end run".

The "Doolittle Raid" snuck into Japan OVER THE WATER, so why would it be so unusual here ?

I dont know about that Furious,  I've done quite a few NOE against fields approaching from the oceans/sea/bay....and very sucessfully, of course not in a group any larger than five.  But we fly low, like 25ft off the wave tops and spread out to like 2.0.    Hills are better, even better is when the field is on a mesa or plattue (sp?)  We have come up on fields were several planes were taking off and not spotted until we hit the field and the ack starts to fly.  Of course we have also been routed and stopped before we got there, but usually because someone pulled up to soon and gave away the position.   There's a gamble with crossing the open water low like that, will they see or will they pass,  makes it fun,  and alot miss us and just fly right on by.

Love to see Mossies hugging the landscape although I am quite partial to low fast CV launches, the graphical changes that came in AH a few versions ago gives a great feeling of speed down low.

Actually the AK's never needed a NOE ability. They do pretty good no matter what method they choose to attack and grab a base. My .02 at being on thge receiving end several times ;)

I like the NOE's.

Last week someone says, check A##! I zip over there, holy crap! 5 110's and a C47. I up a zeke, take out 3 of the 110's but miss the troops on a strafeing run.

2 nights ago, another NOE attack. 3 or 4 110's and a C47. I got the C47 before the drop, lol.

poopster ...

Below 500 ft AGL. I like to fly as low as possible ... the feeling of speed is more prevelant. Flew the bomber with the "ball gun" 50 ft off the water and hopped in the gun ... scared the crap out of me for a sec.

No NOE radar:

1. SpreadS the fights out.

2. Bring the furballs to lower altitudes.

3. Give a country that's outnumbered a way to break out.

I'm glad HT added it to the game.

Only problem with NOE raids is all the BS over comms on the long flights to target. Thank heaven there's no way to post pics of grandkids over comms. :D

NOE Good for Grilling
« Reply #14 on: May 28, 2002, 06:37:11 PM »
The other day I had food on the grill so I decided to attack a heavely defended field with NOE flights.  I took off and set auto level over the water... check the grill... adjust course ... check the grill.... adjust cource.... check the grill, then pop up, kill a hanger, get killed... check the grill and do it again.  We took that field and the BBQed ribs turned out great!
