The Worst Car Ever made!!!!
« on: May 28, 2002, 04:20:53 PM »
Or, What did you drive in College???

My very 1st vehicle looked like this, only blue with a black top. I beat the crap out of it and sold it for $400. One of my many regrets:

How can you compare that to a car that had a fuel tank for its rear bumper?

I give you the '72 Ford Pinto:

I never took pics of it, but my first ride was a 1977 buick landaue/regal.  It had no mufler when I bought it, not even an exhaust manifold. ( I put on glass packs) The gas tank leaked if it was filled over 1/2 tank so they let me pull the 1/2 full tank off an old 77 old's, that gas tank stayed in my trunk for 3 months LOL! 1/2 full and all.

There was a big hole in the floor board under my feet that I could watch the road go by and get splashed when I drove on wet roads.

About every 3 or 4 miles I would have to pull over and twist the distributor cap to get the engine back into time :)

When I hit the brakes the car would shake violently before it stopped.  When my dad taught me how to change brakes he almost cried when he saw that the 2 front rotors were rusted through.  We could pull them apart like spitting an Oreo cookie. (I got lucky there)

The one thing about that car was that it was damn fast!  I would race camero's, trans ams and mustangs and win!!!!!  Sounded mean too with those glass packs.  I loved that car, but my mom made me sell it because it scared her :(

I bought it for a trade of a $99 peavey guitar and 2 nentindo tapes :D

AMC '65 Rambler  :)

Built like a tank but a great drive-in movie car. Front seat moved all the way forward, seat back reclined to full down postition. Hehe. Man, I miss that car.    :)

Those are all pretty bad, but I've owned a few Fiats.  Man, talk about poor engineering!  I think every part of every Fiat was designed by a different guy, and none of them were on speaking terms with each other.

I concur with Skuzzy.

Yugo.

My college car was a '74 Honda civic bug car. It rocked, you could fold down the back seats and get laid. And fuel milage meant you had the cash to do it more often.

LOL, you guys must have led protected childhoods. My dad bought my older brother a car, and expected us to share! Heh.

I went out and bought a wrecked Mopar and rebuilt it with a few friends to help out. I re-rebuilt it four years later, with an engine from Ocala, Fl. (Danny Dvorak's Daytona HPI).

'68 Challenger R/T Daytona. I set two personal bests with it. Little Rock to Fayetteville in one hour fifteen minutes (through the Hog Trail; today I could do it in less than an hour easy), and Palatka, Fl.  to Jacksonville Beach, FL. in 22 minutes. :p On the Palatka run, the State Trooper that clocked me at 186mph (and accelerating) never came out of the median. That's just one incident. That car made General Lee's escapades look like a Catholic school girl's first 'jama party.

It survived for ten years out of High School, before getting stolen. It was recovered in Atlanta, GA. as a frame. :(

Why is it the things you miss most are cars and dogs?

I concur with my esteemed colleagues on the Yugo.  A woman about 10 years back, literally was BLOWN OFF of the Mackinac Bridge and fell 180 feet to the water and was NEVER found.
