I *think* the H2H feature just uses HTC's server to initiate the connection--it keeps track of who is hosting games and tells clients where they can connect to. Once in game, packets should travel directly across your LAN from client to host. So yes, you should be able to plan on a LAN, but you need to use H2H, and the server should be on the internet. The clients *might* work through NAT, but they will work if they have separate internet IPs, and not NAT IP addresses.
Hmm... I'm curious if this would work. Running WinGate on the "host" machine, or some other proxy, Internet Connection Sharing for example... then have the clients connect via HTC using H2H. Anyone ever try that?
