What about an Squad Internal Pager ?
Last night I was alone of my squad flying and just 3/4 minutes before logging my CO comes online just to say :"I've to go AFK wait for me" but having to some father work I logged without having the possibility to leave him a message.
Next propostion what about an Squad Message of the day ?
ei : you log you got a message like HTC message saying "we have a vulch fest ... err a surgical attack on field XX
