this has been done.  MA is under new server and goes thru a diff gateway than skuzzy (so far). MA Backup and Alt backup are still thru skuzzy and are a seperate MA completely - i was getting a wonky host queue in MA so tried the "backup" and ended up in baltic with no one else there and countries in a diff rotation than what was currently in MA at the time.

No one was using it of course, as everyone wants to be where the numbers are.

then there's the Combat Theatre as well.

the 2nd MA has potential to test out a few new experiments, but then again... people go where the #'s are.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.

No need for a second arena, the servers are fine they just need more bandwith.

Try a alternet route if your having connection problems, its not the server its your connection timing our from data loss.

2late4u, the new server is in a different location on a different connection to the other servers.  Its more than likely an issue at your end.

If AH is to keep growing, it'll need a second "main arena" sooner or later.

Besides, who wouldn't like some additional variety?

How to populate it?   Cap the population on the original arena.  Yes, there'd be a few whines at first, but it'd settle down once people got used to the new setup, provided the alternate arena isn't something that the average player hates (like the CT).

I was getting 17 to 18 ms access pings last night with 300 people on. No lag or nothing. Connections were great!
