Yea, congradulations...I CANT LOG IN TO THE MAIN ARENA AGAIN.

2 nights ago it was the main arena being over loaded and the download speed for the new map being 300 baud.   Now there are 300 people in the main arena, and I get booted back to the sign in screen over and over.

I can log in fine, and get into the other arenas fine, but the server is not up to the task of 300 people.

2Late AFAIR HTC's servers have still long way to go before hitting limits. You might want to download pingplotter and check if your problems are related to your own connection or ISP.

You'll notice, I said I could log into any of the emptie arenas with no problem.  Training, duel etc....its only the main arena with its 300 people, logs in fine with password in under a second, but when I try to enter THAT arena, it sits there for 20 seconds, then back to the password screen again.

1-20 people duel arena=fine

300 people=no connect

Not too dificult to see where the problem is.

298/330 people online when I logged in.

Logged in just fine. Flew just fine for 2 hours.

I don't think it's HTC's end that's having a problem.

Yep 300 is a nice number.  No warp or connex issues that I could see.  WTG.   :)

On a side note:

When AH was $30 a month, seeing 150-175 players in MA during weeknights was the usual for me.

Now with it being $15 a month, we're hitting 300 people?

I would think that the business moves have paid off and that htc has covered the initial decrease in revenue quite quickly.

Achieving what they have with only 6 staff it looks like this company will go very far if the growth rate continues at it's current pace.

Saw alot of funky lag stuff. Planes jumping 300-400, planes dying 20 seconds after you hit em, etc. I like the numbers....hate the lag.

Sounds like critical mass for a second arena to me.

Maybe its time to look at changes to the CT that would make it more popular?

I agree that it's time for another arena.  Several suggestions:

1. The obvious (and boring) choice is to simply create a second MA identical to the first.  A waste of resources, IMO.

2. I wouldn't mind seeing a second MA with no night-time and slightly closer bases, perhaps with RPS added in the first MA (one MA could slightly more "realistic" than the other).  Everyone would be happy with this outcome.

3. Or perhaps have one MA "europe"-style, with the other being "pacific" style?  This worked well in AW, and IMO would work even better in AH.

4. An easy fix might be to modify the CT so it becomes popular, but this might involve turning it into nothing more than a "team-planeset" MA.

5. A FA-style "country-based planeset" arena might be interesting, but there'd have to be quite a few plane additions for it to be fair at all.

6. Perhaps a "mid-war" arena, with post-summer 1943 planes either perked or completely unavailable.  Such arenas, however, have consistently proved unpopular in other sims.

Given a choice, I'd vote for either #2 or #3, or maybe #5 once the planeset could support it.
