4th Stormo Guys, I need your Maachi C.205 Data
« on: November 05, 1999, 01:21:00 PM »
Hey all you 4th Stormo Guys, I am compiling historic performance charts for all the aircraft in AH (including the 190 and C.205), and I lack data for the Maachi C.205.

Somewhere I saw that someone in your squadron had alot of flight data, and if possible could you email it too me?

Specifically, I am needing either performance tables or graphs for

Climb vs Altitude
Speed vs Altitude(preferably IAS, but TAS accepted)
Max turn (degree's) vs Altitude

Of course being a collector of high quality data for any aircraft, I would be interested in any flight test material you might have.

Thanks

Vermillion,

C.205 performance data are rare. Our historian Ferdinando D'Amico has the tables for the C.202 "Folgore". Anyway, I think that HTC is "rebuilding" the C.205 FM based on available data:

Engine: DB 605A1
Take-off output: 1,475hp (1,250hp at 27,000ft with GM-1 injection);
Total weight (loaded): 3,400Kg;
Max speed: 640kph (400mph) at 20,000ft;
Ceiling: 37,500ft;
Time to 20,000ft: ~5'30" (100% fuel, 100% ammo);
Armament: 2x12,7mm (400 rounds each), 2x20mm Mauser MG151 (250 rounds each);
Range: ~640 miles

She was something like a 109G-2 as far as climb rate is concerned, at least up to ~20,000ft. Her maneuverability was very good, allowing to turn nearly with SpitIXs and P38Js. She was beautifully streamlined so her speed was slightly higher than Bf109G-2's. Very good performance up to 22,000ft. Not so good above (Fiat G.55 and Re-2005 were better at very high alt).

A good starting point should be the AW2/3 tables of the 109G-2 but turn rates should be better.

Ciao gatt!!
Sei sicuro del tempo di salita?
Ho verificato le mie fonti e risulta un tempo di salita a 6000m di 5'03" e non 5'30".
Ciao

Hi gatt!!
Are you sure about the climbing time?
I checked my sources and i've found a climb time to 20000 ft of 5'03", not 5' 30".
Cya.

Looking better into tha data I've found that the 109G-2 with the DB605A-1 weighted some 250Kg less of the Veltro (but the latter was more streamlined and had a better wing).

The G-2 time to 20,000ft was 5'06" and the max speed was exactly the same, about 400mph TAS. We'd say that probably the time to altitude for the Veltro was something more than that.

Above 20,000ft the G-2 performance was way better. Time to 26,000ft was 7'36", while at the same time the Veltro reached only 23,000ft.

Greets,
Gatt
