Sounds excellent!

The whole film system is an outstanding addition to this sim.  It is one of the most import features that puts AH far ahead of  their competitors.

Well done.  Can't Wait for this update! ;)

I still wish I could hop into opponents planes and read their instruments.  Without this feature I have limited use for the FV with or without text and voices.

I thought the ability to hop in other planes was already in the film viewer?  Thought I read that somewhere...

CC oboe.  you can hop into other planes but you wont be able to read the instruments.  They stay flatlined.  There have been times when what I wanted most in film viewer was to be able to see how many Gs, and for how long an attacker pulled into me before blowing me like a cheap potato.

Other options that would be worthwhile are:
Being able to toggle head shake on/off.
Being able to toggle redouts/blackouts on/off.

Other things people think of are good I am sure but hey!  at least we will be ablle to toggle text and voice on/off.  I guess thats worthwhile.

Biggest thing I'd like to see from a trainers standpoint is guns fireing & trajectory of shells.
Plus hit flash's if possible.

However the film recorder/viewer as it is/will be is a piece of art.

Problem being that NONE of that information is sent to you from other people, therefore how is it supposed to be recorded?

Hmmmm.

Arent all the planes captured in the film doing all the things that would be displayed on the instruments of those planes anyways.  I mean, wheres the disconnect here?

Obviously it cant be done or it would have been done.  Im just saying its too bad is all, and subtracts from the overall value of a film editor that allows you to jump from plane to plane.

Thats all.....thats all.........

As far as I can tell- the planes aren't being rendered on your FE in terms of how many Gs they pull, how much they are yawing/rolling/pulling up- but in terms of where they are in the virtual world.

Kind of like Battleship- but in 3D. Plane is in C4X, moving to C4.5Y at 200MPH.

This is why certain planes are noticably more jumpy in the film recorder than, say your plane or a plane 50 yards from you.

If you watch for another guys instruments when you take off (sometimes they spawn with you and you can see their instrument panel), you'll notice that there isn't a single instrument working on there. The ammo counters are a solid white (or black- I forget) and the gunsight is all screwy like how it looks in the film view when you jump to other cockpits.

These things are mostly good to show others a fight you were in, or to make cool video clips you can play for people at work, or your friends, or other people over the internet.

We've discussed this before in the "Film Viewer" forum.

I may be wrong, but I'm under the impression that our Front Ends don't get anything but positional updates and some firing/tracer information for the other planes.  Our end simply doesn't know all of that other info for everyone else.  I imagine that the server probably has it for cheat checking, but HTC's not gonna waste the bandwidth sending it out to us.  I suppose it would theoritically be possible to code the Film Viewer to extrapolate that information from the positional updates, but it would certainly be no small task.

I agree that having all of that info would be a huge bonus and make the FV an even better training tool, but I'll be happy enough when it just works as advertised.  It's gonna be a great training tool as it stands.
