The untold story of Aces High
« on: June 04, 2002, 02:01:51 PM »
Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Heaven, God was missing for six days.  Eventually, Michael the archangel found him resting on the seventh day.

He inquired of God, "Where have you been?" God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look Michael, look what I have made."

Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?" "It's a MMOG," replied God, "and I've put life in it. I'm going to call it Aces High and it's going to be a great place of balance.

"Balance?" inquired Michael, still confused. God explained, pointing to different parts of the game, "For example, there will be perk rides and opportunity for the wealthy while leaving other aircraft un-perked for the poor.

Over there I've placed a group of white sheep and over there is a group of tree’s." God continued, pointing to different areas of the map. "This area will promote strategy while this one gives way to furballing, this area will be a buffers paradise while this one will give nightmares to fighters."

The archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to the center of a large mass and asked, "What's that area?" "Knights," God answered, "the most glorious place in Aces High. There's beautiful lakes, rivers, streams, and exquisite grasslands. The people from Knightlandia are going to be modest, intelligent and humorous. They'll be extremely sociable, hardworking and high-scoring, and they will be known and feared throughout the server as aces and carriers of destruction. They will be admired by all who come across them."

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, "But what will offset the people of Knightlandia, God?....You said there would be BALANCE!!!!"

God replied wisely, "Wait until you see the loudmouth, whiney-assed, arrogant, and conceited pilots I'm putting on either side of them to be known as Rooks and Bishops.

God replied wisely, "Because the Knightlandians are so concerned with their scores, they will be universally ridiculed by the people of Bishopia and Rooklandia.  You see, although the Knightlandians have all of the qualities I've already mentioned, they lack common sense and have rivals for the land.

The Bishopians live over there and are the most numerous of the races and that gives them strength to keep the Knightlandians from dominating.  When their numbers are higher than either of the other two lands, that is when they are most dangerous.  You see, when their numbers are greatest is when they multiply the most.  The Bishopians are also masters of coordination.  You will rarely see one of them alone.  When they attack, they do so in an organized and overwhelming manner.  This is their true strength.

The Rooklandians are the unknown quality.  They live over there and they live for the fight iitself instead, and scoff at the Knightlandians and their petty quest for points.  They revel in defeating the superior numbers of the Bishopians despite lacking the Bishopians' coordination.  Best of all, the Rooklandians have sheep.

Hence there is balance.

Michael saw that it was good.

I can’t take credit for actually authoring this little gem.  It came from a friend worded a little diferently but thought it would work well with AH.  And, it does :).

The only defense has come from Yippee38.  So, basically yippee38 what you’re saying is you have no problems with the…

“loudmouth, whiney-assed, arrogant, and conceited pilots”

Just “high-scoring”.  Gotcha
