With BMW 801 D engines, Lichtenstein SN-2 and FuG 227 "Flensburg" radar. Belly tray with 4 x MG 151/20 is partly visible under fuselage behind open hatch...

Hell of an airplane, but don't know how we'd utilize it's mission equipment...you wouldn't be able to use the upward firing cannons on anybody and all that drag from the radar aerials would be for nothing if the radar presentation wasn't portrayed and we had a full night environment...but still a pretty bird.

I spend a vast amount of time sitting underneath lancs, ju88's b26's just wishing i would have upward firing guns.  They are warranted and needed in here big time.

But, Sachs, if we had upward firing cannons, I don't think you'd get any time under a buff...he'd be corkscrewing since he will know you're there.  The night engagement is needed--Schrage Musik killed because the Brit didn't know the nightfighter was there.  My opinion anyway...
