Castrate sex offenders?

The Oakies say no:

Quote
O K L A H O M A   C I T Y, June 7 — Gov. Frank
Keating has vetoed legislation that would have authorized the
chemical and surgical castration of serious sex offenders.

Keating called the legislation "reckless and not progressive
criminal justice policy." He said it may violate the U.S.
Constitution's prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment.

"In a modern society, we don't cut off hands to punish someone
who steals a loaf of bread," Keating said.

The measure would have allowed judges or juries to order
chemical castration for persons convicted of committing first- or
                                     second-degree rape or forcible sodomy.

"I'm sure the rapists and pedophiles are very happy with Gov.
Keating today," said Sen. Frank Shurden, the bill's author.

Keating also signed a bill requiring defendants convicted a
second time of first-degree rape, forcible sodomy, lewd molestation or sexual abuse of a child to
be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

I find massive topic posting as a hindrance to the AH BBS as anything. They just bury discussions.

If you have a interesting topic, fine. Not that the hoopty picture post caption thing isn’t valid for a lot of folks, maybe a good vBulletin Topic addition for HTC come to think of it.

But to see you almost spam the offtopic board everyday at 6:00amPST till you get off work is a bit much.

We all have CNN, we all have TV's, some even want to know your every move after the alarm clock goes off. Some don't.

That's why they have squad discussion.

Here's a thought. Wow, your recruits, and bring the best of the Mag 33 whatever  here.

Just saying.

lmao Elfenwolf

Castration won't stop sex offenders, it'll just make them use other tools.

Well, from what I've read about it on the web, seen on TV, etc...its not much of a preventative measure.

Now, if they threaten to do a castration in a public place, with a cannon ball, well THAT might get noticed!

Sorry Creamo, but I disagree.

The entire point of the O club is to discuss anything that you want, including things that you would normaly talk about with your R.L. friends and/or family.  After moving around the nation so much, I've gotten to know you BB tards almost as well as some some of my real friends.  There is nothing wrong with starting discussions about current events in this forum.  If you don't like it then just don't respond.

Or at least be funny in your attempt.

When they are convicted put them all in the same pen, room, whatever, issue each one a straight razor, (for shaving of course) lace all food and water with viagra, and show porno films 7/24. The problem will resolve its self.

Feel free to disagree all you want there Esk. But if you want to disagree, usually one would counter a point, which was clearly posted, you didn’t. That being massive topic submissions by over zealous members bury a lot of discussions.

In fact, your just stating your opinion on the obvious what the Off Topic is for, and  interjecting some personal info discounting nothing what I posted. Fine, and I see your point, but then you brought in comedy as a requirement? Isn't that ironic, concidering.

I “attempted” to point out that posting topics in volume can for some seem spam to other browsers.

(LePaul, please, don't start a beating down of wits, you just don't wanna)

Ummm no amount of new topics will bury an active discussion. Everytime you post, it goes back to the top. The ones that get burried are the ones that are not being used.

My belief is that a majority of the threads in the O'Club are over by the second page, and all that is left is the insult hurling. I'd rather have fresh topics to choose from, and I'm glad that Rip will toss them up there.

Considering the source of the poster, I'm assuming (yes I know how to spell "Assume") that he is a Republican?

I support any punishment that increases the likelihood they will kill themselves.  At least for repeat offenders.
