my Rd 350 is a late 73 purple/white with no mods to it (i think alot of these bikes were turned into Cafe style racers )  i mix my fuel now vs using the auto injector , the engine has been reringed once ..  this  is my very 1st street bike (my dad gave it to me when i was 15 ) its the 1st bike i went over 115 mph on, also the "only" bike ive ever gotten a ticket on  . (no headlight on ) .LoL
i remember  racing  it against my uncles 650 Triumph . and beating him with it when i was 16 ... (by the way he still has his Triumph )
1st bikes honda 50 then a trail 70 ,175 bultaco ,DT175 yamaha, the Pursang 360 bultaco ,a DT360 yamaha ,the RD350,a CB750,a TT500 ,a KZ 900 triple, and from here i just got crazy an people started giving me the things.

P,s. my comment about jeans means that u dont ride in shorts .(I  still see Idiots in shorts on bikes  "Doners")
i have layed down in jeans befor it was a 1st rain thing in cali and the roads get really oily and a car pulled out in front  and i had nooooooo place to go . i slide about 15- 20 feet on my arse  / arm/ back...  my wallet pocket took most of the beating  and my leather jacket .  i got lucky that i didnt high side it .   i had been riding on the street for 7 years when this happened and this was my 1st crash on the street . I was on my 73 HD (they had terriable brakes ) that was the main reason .you guys that have owned older Harleys know exactly what i mean.
Now i cant and wont say that everyone will crash on a bike but in congested  citys it just may happen.

in todays world everyone should have to wear full leathers on a bike.(i should listen to myself here for i still putt to work in jeans and leather coat most of the time)5 miles  no freeways, but its my skin i can do what i want .
As for dropping  a bike its always the one w/ the best shiny stuff/most expensive farings ( a ratt bike never falls over)and this always leaves you looking around to see in anyone saw you .LoL
ill post pics  as soon as i fix my blasted scanner .

QUOTE---""""What a load of horse toejam. I HATE the fact that so many guys do their best to convince new riders that they're gonna crash. Nothing like scaring the hell outta people to get 'em riding.

There's absolutely no reason you'll ever have to crash if you're intelligent and responsible. I've been riding for a decade and a half without a crash and am no more likely to crash today than I was on day 1. Quite a bit less likely, in fact. I ride intelligently and within my limits, both on and off the track. I am aware of what's going on around me and am observant of other motorists.

Sure, if you're stupid, you're likely to crash. But there's certainly nothing that states "a lack of crashing makes you stupid." """"

Tell that to my brother, who years ago had a spare tire from a camper fall off in front of him while riding his Honda Goldwing. Put him in the hospital for 5 weeks ...damn near killing him.Does that put him in your "unintellegent, irresponsible and stupid  category ?Only thing that saved his life is the gear he was wearing.

Bottom line is your driving a bike. Not a car or a truck, and the VAST majority of drivers out there do not mentally recognise or acknowledge what you are driving to be a vehicle and will do stupid crap like pulling out in front of you, turning left in front of you, of changing lanes like your not even there. I've been driving since 84 and it happens at least once evrey year.Sucks but thats what we have to put up with. Best thing you can do is be prepared and spend the extra cash on good gear, and take some kind of instructional course to let you know what to look out for. Cause chances are...even against the smalles of cars... the bike and its driver will get the short end of the stick in a crash.

I'm not talking about accidents of that type.  Not sure how you can interpret what I said as that.   Anyone can get caught up in an accident that's not their fault.

But the comments posted above seem to imply that everyone is gonna dump the bike on their own.  To me "crashing" means wiping out while taking a corner too fast, or being unable to stop cuz you're going too fast.  Things of that nature.  "Crashing" is your own fault.

I'll stand by what I said above with a small addition.  While anyone could get caught up in an accident and so should be prepred (helmet & full leathers is optimal) there's no reason someone who's in control of their bike and their abilities should crash on their own.

Crashing is your own fault?

Where do you live? Cos if there's a stretch of road on the planet where a car, truck, bus, nuther bike, sheep, dog or kangaroo isnt gonna jump out in front of ya some time or another, then I wanna know about it.

Try riding in London (GB) traffic.

Crashing happens, sometimes it aint your fault.  If you've been through a couple of slides ok then next time you come around a bend and find a truck blocking the road you have a choice:  Try and break and hit the thing head on or lay the bike on it's side and slide to a halt early.

Believe me, I know....and bailing out was definately the better option cos I know it doesnt hurt (unless you're in a T shirt).  Slamming into truck would prolly hurt but thankfully I didnt find out.

Did you read what I wrote?  Certainly there are unaviodable accidents, but there's nothing that guarantees you're gonna get in one of those.

I'm talking about wiping out on your own because you've gone too hot into a corner and can't hold your line.  Things like that.  That's just someone getting in over their skill level, and doesn't have to happen if the rider is responsible.
