My brand new cougar arrived yesterday. I spent  hours reading the manual to get aquainted. Tonight I tried to install it and it wont work. I get message from the hotas program which I was instructed to insatll first BEFORE plugging in the cougar, which says the stick is NOT connected. In my windoews control panel it is not listed. I plugged it in while the puter was running like it says in the directions. I got a message that the software was loading, but it just will not work. any suggestions out there before I mail this sucker back? No help anywhere in COUGAR WORLD LOl what a joke! Of course Thrustmaster is closed on the weekend.

Thanks for the reply, this was the first place I went, NO help here. I GUESS NOTHING AS BASIC AS TO WHY A SIMPLE HOOK UP WON'T WORK. I read all kinds a praise for the cougar but no trouble shooting section. I am calling them directly in the morning before I mail it back

Make sure you install the cougar software from the CD first... and the Foxy software.  Then go to http://www.thrustmaster.com and download the latest version and install it.  THEN plug in your cougar.

If that doesn't work, a couple of questions:

1) Are you using any other USB devices?
2) What OS are you working with?

Have you upgraded the software yet?  If not, try doing that before giving up - I believe Seeker had similar problems until he upgraded his, then all was well.

Hi Flossie, thnx for the reply. If you mean did I download the latest software for the cougar? Yes I tried that first. It is as if my USB ports are dead. Now my lexmark X63 printer whish is also USB doesn't print. I have a lexmark X31 stnd port which works ok. I check my usb ports in my computer properties, they are all enabled, and with no conflicts. If I try to force windows to recognize the cougar thru the hardware wizard, it puts an unknown device in the system, and the cougar still will not work. The software programs(hotas) and (foxy) work, but they tell me the stick is not connected.
Oh well I'll go back to cougar world for another look see.

AKdejaVU I am using windows98 SE, I have a lexmark USB printer. I have tried this with the lexmark dissconnected and completely uninstalled. I also had a wisecom wireless keyboard and mouse set-up. I have removed these and installed a regular keyboard and mouse. Still no help. I noticed the latest drivers at thrustmaster did not mention they were for win 98 se. Maybe that made a difference, anyway ive deleted and reloaded this whole thing (software and hardware) five or six times now. Thnx for your input all

After installing the lastest and greatest software, did you then go to Foxy and FLASH UPDATE the Cougar ... I was experiencing the same problems until I did that.

While in the Foxy Program ...

Menubar -> Cougar -> Flash Upgrade
SlapShot - Blue Knights
