nerds...thousands of them
« on: June 09, 2002, 04:29:40 PM »
So anyway, I have been browsing the Star Wars Galaxies message boards lately. They start the open beta on June 12th, and I think I'm gonna like that game alot.

It is a scary experience though, there are thousands and thousands of nerds over there. The forum scrolls like a damn chat-page. Ok, I admit that we might be flight-sim geeks over here...but at least we know that we are geeks. Imagine my surprise when I found this post on that forum.

Prove that you are a true Star Wars fan

Prove you're a true star wars fan by telling me who the members of the Jedi Council are! If you don't know then you're not a true fan. Prove you're cool.

This is my only way to get people to answer this question.

So, who are they? What are their names?

I almost bust a rib laughing when I read the highlighted part...

I dunno about you guys, but to me, knowing the members of the Jedi council is about as far from being cool that is humanly possible.

it's like the typical school thing.

some kids says "you don't know the answer" the otehr says "yes I do, do you?" then then it goes "well I'm not telling you because you will just agree to it, so tell me the answer"

what I ask myself is how many of those fans are trying to use the force within and move balls with just their minds LOL.

Remember movies are true and also remember.........don't trust no one *plays the X Files music*

You think Geeks are scary?  I get nervous when I start thinking people actually believe this stuff is real.  No joke, there was an Airman in my squadron (years ago), who I actually asked if she realized Star Trek was fiction.  I don't suppose the fact that she could translate anything you said into KLINGONESE had anything to do with it.

Another time, while off duty we were watching Star Wars... I stupidly (not realizing the company I was in) asked this guy where the heck Bobba Fet came from and got a freekin 45 minute lecture on who Bobba was, where he came from... his family history...  etc etc

If you want to boil it all down, all Star Wars tells us is that people with english accents are all evil.

Right?

I find it no more strange that people believe in the Jedi thing than people who believe in virgins giving birth, and dead men rising up, to go back to themselves in some undefined space.

What, are you implying that the Jedi will not return? All these generations of waiting, all for naught. I am devastated.
