« on: June 10, 2002, 06:49:44 PM »
Are there any private or commercial sites that sell models painted and built. (not those tiny wodden models for 70 bucks)  I have no time to put a scale model together but would love to hang a couple from the ceiling.. any ideas? looking for  Bf-110's preferably.

I remember reading about this company online a while back. Their  website was a bit different then and much more detailed with construction pictures etc...  In my opinion, this guy is one of the best model builders I've ever seen. His stuff is museum quality to the highest degree and it is very very expensive. He scratch builds everything. The outer skin panels are each individual pcs and (not simply a fiberglass shell) with working landing gear struts, etc... Again very very expensive.

My local hobby store has built-up plastic kits for sale.  They keep them in a glass display case with a little card describing the kit, the plane's history, and the price.

If you don't have time to do the painting yourself, you should try the pre-painted kits by AMT/Ertl.  I recall seeing them at Wal-Mart - had a P-51B and a FW109 for around $10.  All you had to do was glue the pieces together.

they are there Sunking. Usually out of two pages of auctions there will perhaps two. Depending on the plane of course. A P-51 for sure, a P-39 not as likely.

Sadly Armour Models no longer make thier 1/48th scale die-cast aircraft. They got bought by the Franklin Mint. :(    I liked thier models. I did buy P-47 in a 57thFG scheme as well as a P-38 in McGuires from Bhodi.  He has a company, or works for it anyway, in Florida that helps to restore old aircraft. They sold these also.  You can find them on Ebay now but thier prices are up beyond what they had been when regularly available.

And also to echo what Gofaster said. You can pick them up at a hobby shop or even during a Modeling clubs "open house" if you have them in your area.

SunKing, rephrase your question as a request to have someone from AH build you what you want.  Lots of builders here.  I bet someone would make what you want.

I buy the little diecast models from Walmart or Kmart(haven't seen many lately) for about 2 dolars each, or,on special occasions, 1/100 metal scale models from HobbyTown for about 10dollars each.

Hi,
Matchbox has a very very sweet collection of 1/72nd diecast airplanes. I bought a Spitfire Mk1, They also have a Hellcat in the collection. There are several more but I do not remember which ones, sadly every time I go to Walmart they are all gone. Very very nice though. (Anyone else see these things?)

Roger that Westy.  I started purchasing like 1 a month a while back and was gonna build a collection.  Then they sold to Frankliin Mint and the prices jumped way up.  I cant quite afford them at the rate they want to charge.  I did get a B25, a P38, and an F6F-5 before the prices jumped up.  I also have a P47 and a P51, but they are not Armour and you can really tell the difference.  The detail on the Armour stuff is just so good.
