XP PRO vs XP HOME
«

I hve been using XP Home since January and have absolutely no problems with it. I have heard a lot of Home version bashing (ie. Mr. Sid). Is there really any reason for a home user to spend the extra $$ ? Is file encryption that much more secure? I am asking because i am gonna buy another copy of XP for my Guam puter.
Thanks,

If its working fine for you then there should be no reason to upgrade.
However if you need another copy, Pro has some nice extra features, security being one of them.

XP Pro is a little more secure, but XP is still full of holes. Microsoft has yet to write anything secure, so don't upgrade to pro just because of security. (Dual processor support would be the primary reason to go with pro.)

Thanks for replies. I think I will just get another copy of Home for the new puter with the MSI nforce board.

If Pro is not much more expensive get pro, cause it is better, not just for security. Specially if you have a high end PC.
But dont spend more than $40 extra
