Takes two to tango. The only way to find the conn problem has to occur from both ends of the connection.
Whenever anyone posts a trace to the Internet Forum, I automatically go and run the reverse back to the IP.
Boht directions can take very different paths through the Internet.
Now, since the morning of the 18th, you can bet dollars to doughnuts that the latest worm/virus on the loose is causing 99% of any conn problems.
How long will it last? I have no clue. Code Red took about 2 weeks to settle down when it was unleashed. This one will/could take longer as it has more ways of propogating itself. Although with the attention it is getting, hopefully it will not be that long.
The 18th was pretty bad around here. The ALT conn was about the only one useful, as the MAIN was under a full fledged attack.
Yesterday, things were not as bad, but the MAIN is still getting kicked around.
This is just our end. Your end could be better or worse. Only way to know is give me and IP on your ISP's network and I can get a clue about it. Please do this in the Internet Forum, as I check it regularly and only look in this forum once a day or so.
Kind of like this one. If it had been in the Internet Forum I would have had a response much sooner. LLB, your post time indicates an area that the virus was nailing us pretty hard, as it did for most of the 18th.
Yesterday should have been a bit better. Hopefully, today will be better still.
