I'm like this...
I like truth. I like to bargain on the facts at hand. I don't like it when they make extreme statements and lie. That seem to be the only type of debate. Not just win the argument but how do you win the argument and permanently discredit your apponent.
In DC they fight a war of ideas with words instead of weapons. What happens when all the words are false? They take the one good weapon we have to debate stuff in a civil manner and they prostitute them with extreme over exagurations and out right lies. They delegate their athority to burocrats with no accountablity. Then they squeak when they think they don't have enough athority. They use our money as a weapon to get us to the things that they think we should be doing. They squander and waste our tax dollars and programs that do nothing but hire more burocrats and get them re-elected.
For instance my roommate and I were talking about nationalized healthcare last night. Both of us think it's a bad idea to socialize medicine. I got to thinking though that they already take in enough cold hard cash to pay the insurance premiums on every American alive. Yet if that were to ever happen you know they'd make a special new tax for it. What happens to our cash in Washington? How many BILLIONS do they take in every year? I'd be willing to bet that they've got some fancy ways to make that money fall right into their pockets. Tom Dashle has NEVER had a job, NEVER. What makes him qualified at all to know what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck? I'm sure there are plenty of Republicans in office who never worked a day in thier lives either. I singled out Dashle because he's the "latest" I heard never had a real job.
It's taken me 10 years to figure this out because for a brief moment in my early political life I saw a party run on a set of promises. Then I saw them do exactly what they said they would do when they took office. Then they were "school lunched" and a really big yellow streak apeared on their backs. Since then it's been a steady chipping away of my "non-cynical" self. As it stands now there are maybe 2 or 3 people in all of washington that I BAIRLY trust and that trust erodes further each day.
The worst part about it, and this is probably what pisses me off the most, we are powerless to do anything about it and they continue ruining this great land of ours. I don't think that what we have in Washington now is anything near what the founding fathers intended.
Who knows I'm probably just going through another manic/depressive episode. So I'll probably be back bashing Tom Dashle again real soon. I'm just venting I guess. I have to do that here because you guys are the only ones that know I'm really insane
