I don't remember the exac sequence of install-uninstall partially-reinstall, but there is a way to do it so that the Saitek software works.
When I first plugged in the Cyborg, it and the buttons were all recognized by Windows, so I didnt think of installing the software (in comparison to you?), but once I did the Logitech Wingman formula force steering wheel I had hooked up for its pedals became incompatible, the Cyb. joy. stopped working when the pedals were plugged in in AH.
So I then install the SGE cd, and it makes the hat only 4way, other directions not recognised anymore.
After that is the series of SGE, beta and not, and WindowsOS cleanups that eventually made it work except with the pedals.
The last few drivers were supposed to get better, but as it was for me, it seems it can go alright of much worse, for ex. everyone was using 3d party drivers with their Saiteks, but the reinstalls worked for me.
Of course this is probably not interesting to you as it's really tedious trial&error.
The following is without any experience with other sticks:
The Cyborg is good, the twist rudder is not too bad despite what you might think if you come from using pedals; even if they were crappy, and certainly better than for ex. the X45 rocker rudder.
The Cyborg I had for a year recently broke its twist axis, and was replaced by a '45. It's better, but almost not worth the price (unless you must have a HOTAS setup) if you depend on your rudder precision for most shots.
