Grand Theft Auto 3 rules!

But does anyone know how to turn on the siren when I jack a police cruiser?

The game is amazing - very open ended, go anywhere, do anything.  Very morally wrong... I like that in a game... and car chases with the cops after you rock!

I got fed up with it after 45 minutes.  Was gonna throw it in the trash, but moose was kind enough to offer me $5 for it, so I will be taking to the CON for him.
There does not seem to be any point to the game that I can tell.

heh Skuzzy..

a week ago in Toronto there were about 6 carjackings in one weekend...

The culprits.. about 6 teenagers ranging in age from 15-17.  They pistol whipped victims, heard they stripped and handcuffed a couple of girls and threw them in a porta potty...

Wonder what inspired them to do that ...

Yeah, Skurj?  I can play Klingon Academy all day long, but I've got this feeling that I am not going to run off and join up with the crew of the first Bird of Prey that comes along and lay waste to civilian settlements from orbit.

Hans, insulted by the lack of faith people place on others.

Hehe,..Kratzer,..that is the exact response I get from anyone about this game, "Huh?"

I guess there is no point to it, no goal to achieve, and without that I find it boring.

How 'bout we not blame the computer game for the car-jackings and just hang the car-jackers???

What a concept............

There is a neverending string of missions that brings you from peon to lord of the criminal underworld (I'm guessing that is where I'll end up)... what do you mean, no goal?

The missions are great, like a 'Gone in 60 seconds' type mission where you have to steal 3 specific cars, and return them in mint condition to the dropoff point, and you only have 6 minutes to do it.

Or a good old fashioned 'wack the patsy and escape from the police' mission...

Did you actually TAKE any missions, or did you just drive around? It sounds like you missed this part, based on your description...

I took all the missions Luigi gave me, but then got told I had to go to some other part of the map, but never found anything else to do.  No marker on the map showing me where I was suppose to go after I got done with Luigi, so I drove around for 15 or 20 minutes and gave up on it.
The documentation does not suggest there are any goals, by the way.  Probably just me, I never have cared for games that kept everything a big secret requiring you to figure out what the real goal/purpose is.

The missions are pretty good Kratzer, except that as you work your way up the ladder both status and towns, it's basically the same missions all over again.  I played thru the second town, but to be honest the boredom started by the time I wasted the triads.

Dunno then, Skuzzy - I always have an initial on the edge of the map for whoever happens to have missions for me.

It IS fairly mindless, Fatty, but hey, so am I! ;)

AH has well documented strategy and goals to meet if you want to win.  AH also has the challenge of playing against real people which will challenge your pilot skills.  The challenge of the other players is enough for me.

The docs that came with GTA3 (PC version) are pretty much useless, in this regard, except for the large map that came with the game.

If the point of the game is just to steal and slaughter, then it is not a game I could enjoy.  With any game it is personal preference.  Some like RPG, some don't, some like FPS, some don't.  Heck, I am not sure how this game should be classified.  I like a good FPS game and I also like good strategy games, but this game does not seem to meet either criteria.

If you like it, then that is a-ok by me.  I purchased the game without doing enough research on it.  If I had gone to to the WEB site I would have never purchased the game in the first place, so it is my fault I am out $50.  At least moose was kind enough to offer me $5 for it.
