Mayday, Mayday!
« on: June 18, 2002, 02:26:40 PM »
I recently had this conversation with a newby squadmate who was flying an attack sortie in a Bf-110 (ndisles map)

Squadie: "Oh crap, I have a 190 on me!"

Me: "Where?"

Squadie: "On my 6!"

Me: "No, where are YOU?"

Squadie: "Over the water."

Me: Sigh "Great, we have eliminated 20% of the map. Where specifically are you?"

Squadie: "I'm headed into the town."

Me: "Which town?"

Squadie: "At the airfield."

Me: "Which airfield?"

Squadie: "Damn! I'm down…."

Me: "Nice talking with you."

Last night the Assassins were flying together and I notice the handle "gr8white" on the upper right screen (we call him GW) indicating he's speaking on squad voice channel. I hadn't heard from GW in 5-6 months, so I say hey. He's not responding on voice. After a few minutes and some tuning a young sounding fella is on squad voice channel, says he's GW's son Tarrance. So we tell him that we're between A22 and A23. Over the next several minutes he's complaining that he can't find us on the map and he's asking for help. Well, I don't see him on the map and I get saddled up on a pony who does a perfect left turn, I do a deflection shot on him and put prolly a hundred MG sprites all over him. By that time Tarrance is getting serious on AHVoice, "I need some help over here!" second later I get an "Assist on Gr8white"

Tarrance, change countries man!

LOL hb!  I have a story along those lines.  We had some squaddies up fighting off the numbers.  Fatz, another squaddie gets on vox and is asking where everyone is at.  The other guys are really getting into a pickle but holding their own all the while calling out to Fatz for help.  Fatz is vectoring in and keeps talking to the other squaddies that he's on the way.  The other squaddies are just hanging on and thinking that Fatz will be there shortly to relieve them.

Things start to get really bad when more enemy come and then they get shot down.  Lo and behold the message says "TheFatz shot you down"!  Boy they were hopping mad especially all during this time Fatz was giving them commentary that he's on the way, where he's at, telling them to "come this direction" etc.  What a cruel joke hehe.

Wide,
I get the just of your story.

Still, not everyone has Voice available to them.    Some people dont have full duplex cards.   I know of one pilot without a voice at all, he must type to comunicate to every moment of his life.

Back to your story,  I have to admit, Iv even been guilty of that kinda responce from time to time.    Even a Sector or a Feild number would probably been enough to aid him.   Iv been in doo doo so deep I couldnt hardly find time to check all the views.   LOL.

BTW....  I Believe :)

LOL – I remember this one.  I think it was when Marge met the divorced chick and they did the Thelma and Louise thing.

Followed shortly by the pursuit music, “Sunshine and lollypops”.  Thanks for letting me remember that one.  Great episode. :)

hehe This explains a great deal about Gr8White's skill level when I encountered him the other night.  I knew he was gone a long time, but I didn't figure he'd be that rusty.
