Jack Buck and Hank Stram were the best NFL radio announcing team i ever heard.

Stram: "Looks like it'll be a trap over the left side, Jack........"

Buck: " And Riggins finds a hole through the left side... breaks one tackle....Riggins down the sideline for BIG YARDS!!!"

Gonna miss Jack Buck........

Jack has a Hall of Fame voice and he will be missed.

Very big loss for the St.Louis area and "Cardinal Nation".I grew up listening to him as my dad and grandpa both did.Most people around here turned the volume off on the t.v. and tuned in kmox radio to listen.

But he was the nicest most down to earth guy you would ever want to meet.Did so much charity work it's unreal,and he really got involved.He didn't just lend his name to something and disappear.So many stories of him stopping and helping people on a personal level.Every Christmas he would visit the local vetran hospitals and stay for hours talking and handing out Cardinal stuff.He also earned the Purple Heart at Remagen in WWII.

Sad day and a great man even if you leave out the sports stuff.

Big memorial service in the morning on the warning track in center field at Bush Stadium and open to the public.How fitting.

Not to dis Mr. Buck, but Vin still has it. He may do fewer innings than before, but he is still the best wordsmith in the game. His best trait by far though is knowing when to shut up and let the moment speak for itself. Listen to his call of the Kirk Gibson homer in 1988....awesome.

Where did you listen from Funked?

KMOX is one of the strongest am stations in the midwest and has been for as long as I can remember.Becase of this there is a huge fan base in every direction.South into Arkansas/Kentucky,East into Illinois/Indiana(until you get too close to Cub land),North into Iowa,Western Missouri/Kansas(unless you get too close to Kansas City).

I listened to a lot of Cards games when I was living in Illinois. Mostly on WDWS Champaign. But many radio stations in the region carry Cards radio broadcasts.

Yea even our local station(fm) carries all the games and I am only 75-80 miles from St.Louis.
