Hartmann's 'Tulip' 109

So since the original thread has degenerated into another O Club political debate...  anyone have any comment on my original unanswered comment in that thread?

Didn't Hartmann fly this model only a couple times, as the fancy paint job attracted too much attention? I seem to remember reading that somewhere...

...of course, I might just be delusional.

Where did I hear this?

Well in Hartmann's  biography you do see that he used it at one time and it was his personal scheme but when he started to become a succesful pilot the enemy recognized the artwork on his aircraft and started to flee each time they saw it, so his number of victories started to diminish until he change to another 109 which was not painted like the one he flew and they started to gain momentum and after a while he went back to his old 109. So yes for w hile he flew it then he didn't then he flew it again.
