Buckeyes Please Read This...

I think that there's not too many of us AHers in this part of Ohio, but I thought this might be an opportunity for us to meet.
I am going to the "Defenders of Freedom Aero Expo 2000" at Akron Fulton Int. Airport.  My family and I will probably be going Sunday morning.  Look for me, I'll be the dork in the WWII Army Air Corps uniform.  My wife will probably also be in a WWII uniform, and we will probably be pushing a green side-by-side stroller with an infant and toddler in it.  I'd love to meet and talk to anyone who plays AH, so call out "eskimo" if you see me.  We'll most likely be near the WWII warbirds.  Please respond if you plan on going and feel free to post a picture so that I know who to look for as well.

Eskimo Hiyas!   Myself and Rob53 live in the area.  Rob lives in North Canton..........and I live in the Youngstown area.  I believe the flying circus also has another NE Ohio resident.  Unfortunately I can't make it to the airshow.  But.........if in the future you want to make a pilgrimage to the  Mecca of Warbirds.   Take the drive to Wright Patterson AFB Museum.  Well worth it........and every imaginable Warbird from WWII is there.....including the Me163 Komet.  Also.........I have friends, a couple who are married who serve in the USAF.  They are stationed at the Youngstown Airbase, 410th Tactical            C-130s.  She's a pilot, and he's the Chief Maintainence Scheduler and Flight Engineer.  We should get the group from the NE Ohio area together some time  I know there are plenty of others in NE Ohio that participate in AH.

Eskimo, have any more info on that airshow on Akron?    I heard about it on the radio but need to know more.  I definately want to go if possible!

I myself am located about 20 miles west of Akron, real easy driving to that Aero Expo  :)

Hajo,

I visited the Dayton museum last August, it was my second visit.  Great Place!  I definitely would be up to going again.  It sounds like fun, we'll have to arrange something.

JAB,
General Paul Tibbits will be there among others.  Expect to see a: B-17G, C-47, F4U-4, TBM, B-25D, D3A (Val), B5N (Kate), F4F, P-51D, P-40N, SBD-5 and many others.

For this part of Ohio, this show is going to be huge.  There's a big spread in the Akron Beacon Journal today about it, and there have been adds for months.

Here's a link to the show's site:

Don't miss it!
I'll see you there!

Wait a minute, I know they do things a bit different in Ohio.. but really aren't those kids a bit young to be getting married?  Come on if you need someone to hold you up you shouldn't be walking down the isle.  :)

Just kidding eskimo2, nice looking family you have there..salute.

I should be there.  I haven't missed the Aero-Expo the last couple years.  I'm not sure how to get to Akron Fulton airport, but I'll find it.  I liked it better at the Akron-Canton airport.  Hek of alot closer for me and lots of room to move around.  Even took a ride in an SNJ-4 too.

Hope to see ya there.  I'll look for ya.

Rob53,
Not like I know my way around all that well yet, but Akron Fulton airport is the one with the big old GoodYear Blimp hanger.  It's also right next to Derby Downs where they hold the National SoapBox Derby final races.  Also the Rubber Bowl is right there as well.

Hope to see you!

Us North East guys will meet you at WPAFB sometime then.  We should be able to get at least 3 or 4 of us down there.

Hi Falcon,
I live up near Troy... As a boy I worked out at the AF Museum.
NExt time you all go, drop me a line. I love the place and usually go there once or twice a month.
Have you seen the whole new building they are making? It is gonna be huge.

For the rest of you, The Dayton Airshow is usually pretty good. Might want to take a look at it, I cannot remember the dates at the moment but I'll look it up and post it.

Thanks,  Chris "Mudshark" Scott

Esmiko and Mudshark,

Yeah that'll work. When you guys plan that, let me know if you need my e-mail address. Anyways, I always wanted to see other AH'ers :). Oh, I'll be your guide, I know the museum like the back of my hand. I'm sure mudshark knows the museum pretty well too.

When we go, we must hit the annex :).

Mudshark, have they started the missile silo building yet?
