At least you can land :)

watermarking costs money, but so does having your work stolen.

I know what you are dealing with, and it'd be nice to see a complete solution.

Lets hope that person isn't the next bill gates. :)

That's a great link. It explains in a nutshell the heck I'm dealing with.  Notice is says  "time consuming" but useless a lot?   I know one webmaster who is using the mouse-over to protect her real images.  As they say, "Time consuming."  Thus I don't even attempt it.

I also digitally watermark all my images.  I know, I know...the thieves can't see it.  But a visual watermark messes up the art as they say too.

What they do not say is that watermarking costs money!

The No Right Click at least it doesn't cost anything  (for being worthless).

I also put some of my files in the robot.txt area hoping to stop the sneaks.

I'm trying.

The programmer who finds a way to stop stealing on the net I feel will be the next Bill Gates! :)

In the meantime, such is life for us artists on-line. (sigh)

Er...

Can't folks just hit print screen and paste into a paint program??
If you show your work online, surfers are gonna swipe some images for their own use. The images are not origional size, so they can only make postcard sized lo-rez copies. Not likely to put you outta business.

I agree.  If you post it, it can be taken.

Wolfgang,

Indeed.  So do you support people who inform how to steal on-line?

Isn't that almost the same as being the driver of the car during a bankrobbery?  You didn't actually rob the bank but you helped.

Physchiatrists calling it being the "enabler." ;)

And, why should artists be bullied off-line due to theft?

I see my site sort of like an art musuem.

Exmaple:  A  private collector  has an art musuem to display it for the public to enjoy rather than  keep it to himself in his house.  You go to the musuem to see the works (his collection), but you can't take them off the wall and take them home (although physically yes you can and shouldn't).

So why can't on-line artists create a virtual musuem to display their works?

It's not fair. :(

Actually no, it's more like being the Drivers Ed teacher who taught the bank robber get-away-car driver how to drive.

WHY ME??????
« Reply #21 on: June 21, 2002, 02:57:53 PM »
Kanth,

I'm not the only site on-line that has the "No Right Click" on it.  Many have it and don't even have original content.

So my question is this:

Why me?  Of all the websites on the web, why did you choose mine to show others how to steal from?

As far as I know, I do not know you.  So please tell me what I did to deserve being picked on?

Thanks,

Sheila

Rude, does this count for WOW or does it have to be AH related?

I don't understand. Why are you resisting deleting the post Kanthy?

Seems like she has been very polite about asking.

Just askin.

Honestly I didn't like the "didn't catch on" and the "enabler remarks"

And I don't believe I'm putting out any information that isn't known or can't be found by anyone within 5 minutes of looking.
(no harm from me)

And honestly it illustrated my point that the code was useless.

but this seems to be really upsetting her and so I'm changing it to another unknown site that I picked off of google to continue to illustrate the point because I believe it should still be illustrated.
