Runner here, and former cross-country coach. I was a bit of a road racer, having run distances from 2 miles to marathon. Picked up running at the age of 30, very quickly became addicted. Used to train 80 miles a week during peak training, averaged 3,600 miles a year.

I developed a rather nasty heel spur on right at the base of my heel directly under my Achilles tendon. As you might guess, that, coupled with my age (40), has ended my racing career.
