I was thinking of some other use for paratroopers in strategic ground battles, and I've come up with the idea of 'entrenchment'. The basic concept is this:
1) In the "Hangar" option considering C-47s, LVTs and M3s, there will be a new loadout for 'entrenchment tools'. Thus, when certain number of troops are deployed in a certain area(ex: 30 troops within 1 mile radius) where 'entrenchment tools' were previously deployed(in the fashion vehicle supplies or field supplies are), the "Entrenchment" wil take effect and the troops will form an 'entrenchment' defensive block.
They will return fire on incoming enemy targets such as aircraft or enemy GVs with the effect of 37mm ack. One entrenched block would fire equivalent of two~three acks. To give a decisive edge for aircraft over foot-soldiers, the 'entrenchment' ack will not fire upon air craft flying higher than 500 feet.
This would give some other use for the troops, they can be used as a part of defensive line when for example, enemy GVs are larger in numbers, so trenches will be formed around town to halt enemy GV advancement.
They can also be deployed and entrenched near enemy resupply VH depots, effectively simulating elite paratroopers landing behind enemy lines and distrupting logistics.
Or, they might even be deployed deep into enemy territory and entrench near enemy rail stations, so much larger part of logistics is halted.
Advanced ideas would include:
* The ability to disband entrenchment, reload troops and move on to a new position.
* More detailed attack methods for entrenched troops: such as troops firing rifle calibre weapons, with some 'bazookas' or 'grenades' in effect.
* Groups of entrenchment bound together(ex: 5 entrenchment tools + 50 troops) forming a 'front-line base' complete with a small VH that spawns small GVs.

Far-out suggestion, but I think it might be fun
