Invisible plane bug still being exploited
« Reply #15 on: June 25, 2002, 09:48:22 PM »
I "think" it could have happened to me the other day.  I rolled up on 2 or 3 differen't planes, twice was the same guy.  All in a single flight mind you... and it was like they never had any idea I was there.  As I approached one of the 190's, he was manuevering in such a way that it looked like he was getting a good handle on his SA or at least trying to look below/behind him.  I fully expected the 190 to go into an immediate dive but he just leveled out and flew straight with me closing from 1.2k.  This was the second time I'd killed this guy (in almost the same way) and he started trying to tell me something over channel 1.  Unfortunately I have no idea what language he was using and didn't understand a word...   Anyway... I relogged just in case.

Yup.. I wuz there; Dux waz zapped by an invisible plane. Timing, distance and view were spot-on.. one moment he was my low off my right side, the next he was doin a nylon letdown. Not even a distant dot in the area.. jut Dux confetti and "WTF WAS THAT??!!"

I flew on about another 3 min then "WTF!".. he got me too.

When is someone gonna tell us how to do this.. there's a few places I'd like to visit with an invisible plane! I'd share the secret will all other bishes and start puttin up invisible missions. :D

IMO the community really does need to know who these folks are who willfully take advantage of a bug such as this.  To keep thier identitie(s) shielded is corrosive to AH's reputation, erodes the foundation of the community and the lack of allowing appropriate humiliation and degradation to be heaped upon these turds will only serve to promote future bug exploitation.

lol, Dux confetti... :D

Mino, I honestly can't remember if I saw tracers or not... I'm tempted to say "no" but it all happened very fast.

I definitely heard his engine, though.

ps. Westy... I still have the slightest smidgen of doubt that it might be an innocent connection issue... if so I would really hesitate labelling a person as a cheater. I checked the guy's stats... it's not like he's really profitting from it.

Stay tuned, I guess.

I am not saying that there aren't invisable planes
as there are but :

I',m sure a few are down to the 'ALT i' icon command.

example:
I like to check what people/squadmates are flying using the 'ALT I' command and on a couple of occations I have stupidly forgotten to put icons back to 'Normal' I might have only friendly icons displayed for instance, result: some guy below you is very hard to see as hi doesn't have the big red icon over him pops up behind you with his tracers disabled and BAM your dead and you think you've been got by invisable plane

I come across a few people who dont now this command, so remember check message window says 'normal icons' if you use this command :)

just thought I'd say as I haven't seen this raised before, thanks

Eh, I hear ya Dux.  I'm refering more to the type Voss mentions who runs thier mouth off on how easy it is to do on an open channel. In thier quest for the brief notoriety and negative attention they get IMO they should also have to suffer a public tar & feathering session.

All IMO of course :)

Last night I witnessed the recent inviso plane bug thing for the firts time on two seperate occasions. They simply blew up for no reason. One was an enemy and one was a friendy. The enemy was stalking me and then simply went BOOM! at the same instance someone got a kill elsewhere in the arena. Same with the other incident. Did not observe any tracers and they did were not engaged in combat with any other AC.
