What common heritage?

No, seriously, what common heritage? A nation soley consisting of immigrants from dozens of countries, (aside from the native americans), what possible common heritage could you have? Apart from "we all moved here once".

I don't want citizenship, I just want to be able to work legally.

Should I really have to bring a pregnant girlfriend, pay her a trip to US in her 8th month of pragnancy, have a baby born in USA making him American, get my citizenship because I'm the father, to finally be able to work in the US?

What I'm pointing out, is that maybe it would be more profitable for USA to allow foreign worker with an education to work in USA, spend all their wealthy salary in taxes/social cover/housing and way of life, rather than mojoe who comes in with 10 kids and abuse whatever social program is available to him.

You don't own me nothing, it was my gamble to come here and i knew the risks. Worked like a charm till Sept11, they had to use pilots:( So I erase 4 years of my life and go back in France, say "flying was cool"and work for 20 years in a factory till I can finally repay my bank.

"Frenchy, what if you married an American? Do you get residency then? You could do an on-paper marriage with some woman for 500 dollars I'll bet, and if you can't trust some chick not to screw youup then go to San Francisco because they have a domestic partners law and you could marry a guy. I'd marry you but I'm already married, but I'll bet there's a dozen single posters on this BBS who'd be honored to take your hand in matronimy. How bout it, who's between wives who's willing to marry Frenchy?"

Of course the part that really makes your skin crawl. You have to go to California.

I still have the formation flying job in Chino but our lead plane crashed so we are kind of idle till we find a new one and equip it.
I found an another job as a flight instructor so i can live. The formation flying guy lied to me, he told me we would fly several hours a day and I could live out of it. The reality was more liek 6h a week, not enought to live. He proposed me to be the leader of the squadron, but i politly declined for now, as I need a real job to pay the bils. Soon I will have the minimums to work for charters and make more money but the Visa will still be an issue.

I'm still a tourist till the end of this month. I should not work. Next month I become illegal. I'm going to work, get exploite by the owner of the flite school, he knows I'm fortunate to have this job anyway. INS will probably catch me someday and that will be it, free trip to france, no more pilot stuff.

When I came to the USA, we could convert the FAA licence into almost any European country licence. 2 Years ago, while almost doen with my training in USA, the European communauty was created. With it, a JAA licence who doesn't allow the convert a FAA licence. It's a protectionisum issue, to protect the European market from foreign pilots.

Got stuck in the middle:D

My alternative so far, is to redo everything in Europe, at 3 time the cost, to find fewer flying opportunity than in USA.

To get back to the original topic (southern border). The spin the libs love to put on this, makes my jaw tight. "There just had working farmers" blah, blah, blah.  The truth is, where there is poverty, there is crime. The percentage of VIOLENT criminals locked up in California prisons, that are wetbacks, is so far out of perportion that it is absurd. This cost Cal. tax payers millions BTW. Not to mention the cost to the victims. I have posted these figures before. I'm not looking them up again. If you are interested in the truth, look them up.

How can we throw illegal immigrants into our jails? I thought the policy was to deport 'em?

I guess the part where we deport them... maybe they should just be shot instead... they're here illegally, why would we jail 'em?
