Question about the stats page
« on: June 25, 2002, 10:31:27 PM »
I am referring to the stats page: http://www.hitechcreations.com/cgi-bin/105score/105stats.pl
and the score page: http://www.hitechcreations.com/cgi-bin/105score/105score.pl

The "died in" column of the stats page doesn't seem to add up for me. I was wondering if anyone knew what was going on.

my "scores page" as of today reads:

Sorties:  F-218, B-1, V-5, total: 224
Landed: F-102, B-0, V-1, total: 103
Bailed: F-18, B-0, V-0, total: 18
Ditched: F-7, B-0, V-2, total: 9
Captured: F-9, B-0, B-0, total: 9
Death: F-79, B-1, V-2, total: 82
Disco: F-3, B-0, V-0, total: 3

(I have never scored a sortie as "attack" so I left that column out).

From these numbers, 224 sorties - 103 landings means my plane/vehicle was destroyed (or discoed) 121 times. However, on the stats page, which lists how many kills and deaths in each vehicle type, there are only 91 deaths, not 121.

I am guessing here that the died in column is only counting deaths and captures (i.e. in real life the two outcomes that would stop the pilot from flying again).

However, this doesn't truly reflect the outcome of the fights. A player could be shot down every time he or she flies, but if they successfully bail every time, then the stats page would say that they have never lost a plane or vehicle, which would be wrong. I think the "died in" column should be changed to say "number lost", and should accurately reflect how many of each plane or vehicle type a person has lost.

Another question is that if the "died in" column only reflects the deaths and captures, does that also mean that the "kills of" column only reflects when the pilot you shot down was killed or captured?

I think the stats page only shows deaths when another player got credit for killing you.  So if you die in the ack, or crack up a cv take off etc. it doesn't show as a lost plane for that type.  Is this what you were getting at?
