Anyone ever had a vehicle engine start bug ??
« on: June 26, 2002, 08:55:06 AM »
Push "e" to start and it just goes "rrrrumm" but doesn't start. Like starting a lawnmower. Pt boat starts fine, just land vehicles. Holding key down makes no difference. "rrrumm....."

Tried remapping the key, does the same thing

Fellow squadie had the same problem way back when and "thought" it was a sound file problem.

I am running Mitsu's sound pack.

Anyone had this problem ??

Me want to drive tank. Engine, she no start...

Thanks in advance.

Sound like you flooded the engine. ;)

OK, really, hold down the key until it starts. Some times it may take several seconds for the engine to fire. Make sure you’re in neutral too. Other than that, I don't know what it could be.

you have to be patient and WAIT for the engine to start. Sometimes it takes longer to start.
Plus look at the gauges they will tell you if its running or not.

I haven't had this problem, except after getting hit by something. In, both the Panzer and the Lancaster, I have taken damage and been unable to shut the engine down afterwards.

Holding key down makes no difference. Goes "vrroom" real short like and then nothing. Has fuel, it's in neutral. Remmapped to a different key, no improvement.

Thinking of putting default sound back in and see if there is any change

Make sure all of your vehicle folders have "engstart.wav".

FOUND IT !!!!  :D

You were correct rightFOOT.  Mitsu's sound pack omitted the "vstart" folder from ALL the ground vehicles.

Cut and paste in the original "vstart" folder into each vehicle and voila :D

Now figure out the throttle thingy and I'm mobile.

Thanks guys

WTG RightFOOT! Good call. :)

I downloaded Mitsu's sound pack for the first time about 4 months ago. Never had that problem. Now Poop can defend the bases. :)

Ha!  Poop, I knew it was something with the sound file!  Great job in finding the problem!  :)

Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.
