Guys it was by total accident, but i have hit on a balanced hardware setup  for (relatively) low bucks and still peak you out at lil over 100 fps  80/90fps average

I got a
 1.3 mhz duron
  k7t turbo mobo
  geforce2 pro 64mb ddr agp card old drivers 7.90 somethin
  windose 98
  19" monitor
  1024x768 res
   
 and im getting 100 in cockpit at about 10000ft
 on the runway i get about 60-75fps
 hasn't drop below 30 with a gang of cons and smoke and a town
 in view.

 just upgrade from k7ta mobo with 600mhz which was doing about 60fps avg and having problems in a crowd. down to about 20fps.with this same video card.

 Real happy with this setup also.

Try the nvidia detonator drivers I bet you see an improvement.  I wonder how much better mine would run if I had an AGP card instead of PCI in it.  I did not expect PCI video card to do well.
