Author Topic: Graphics suggestion: Burning wreckage (Read 145 times)

Lately, I am having fun driving around an M8, sneaking up on other GVs coming up to a friendly base and ambush the poor bastage.

So, a flak explodes at the mercy of my AP shells from my M8. BOOM! Nothing left... something is missing here, something... aaahhh... a burning wreckage.

Can we have a "bomb crater" like thing that is a charred body of a vehicle beyond recognition that is on fire and smoking?

It would be cool if this "bomb crater" can fall out of the sky in the shape of a plane when a pilot bails out.

Although, too many of these on the ground might clutter the runway of a vulch field making it difficult to fly because of reduced frame rate.

Just another thought...

No no no leave all wrecks where they died. Man would be cool after one week of war seeing those millions of wrecks distrubuted over the map

leave all planes which the pilot dies but the plane was still in "good" shape.. no no no, leave all ditched planes! (but not landed ones or diteched, but nearly intact ones)

"Wreckages" have a hard hit on overall fps I think. I play a lot of IL-2 in hyperlobby... and when there are like 7~8 burning people around, it's like flying through a flattened airfield.

What I really would like to see is a bailed plane, or a plane with dead pilot, or a shot-up plane such as wingless ones continue flying until crashing. Man, seeing pilot dead planes would be cool... Sneak up behind one, flay bullets into it.. and the guy suddenly starts spinning down madly.. woo hoo!

Would be cool for the GVs to have some cover while avoiding those killer shrubs

Make them burn for the first 2 minutes, then smoke for the next 10 or 20. After that, they would just be a standard burned out wreck object. When I say standard, I mean a Panzer wreck would be a Panzer wreck, but it would look different from an M3 wreck or a Mustang wreck.

Obviously, these wrecks would have to be "hard" objects. GVs shouldn't be able to drive through them.

The only problem with this would be when you get somebody camping the spawn point. You spawn and somebody kills you before you can move. Now nobody else can move once they spawn as your wreck will be there.
