Shut everything down in the background except Explorer and Systray.   I got the same FR with my old P-II 350, 128k RAM, with a 32 meg vidio card.

Make sure  the refresh rate for your montor isn't set too low.  You can't have a FR higher than your refresh rate.

Otto, not true.  Only time frame rate is matched to refresh rate is if you have vertical sync turne don.  Turn off vertical sync and refresh rate doens't matter.

Cobra, your system is a bit weak to get high frame rates.  You need a faster CPU, video card and memory.

Get a Geforce card Geforce2 Pro 64mb or better and your framerates will go up. I probably wouldn't spend money on the top of the line card. More than likely a a Geforce3 Ti 200 or 500 would do the job or even what i got a Geforce2 Pro 64mb ddr ram

I got

1.3ghz AMD duron
 K7T Turbo mobo.
 Geforce2 Pro 64mb ddr ram
 19" monitor
 1024x768 res 32bit color
 windows 98 1st edition
 sound blaster 5.1
 wingman strike force 3D
 CH pro pedals

I get from 68fps on the runway to 100 in the air at 10000ft.
clouds and smoke bring down the FPS to somewhere in the middle of this.
