So long thanks for the fish!
« on: July 10, 2000, 09:50:00 AM »
Due to the inadaquacy of my TNT1 card I will be taking a non-scheduled, non-desired break from this great game.
After trying for several weeks to play in the new version I have decided that the bang for buck ratio is tilted bad by an avarage of 15fps.
Man it hurts cause I love the new features and clouds...
Time to build some models I guess...
Have a good summer all.

As the massive emotional response of the AH  community pours in for your support Pongo, I'll make just a feeble attempt to navigate the heart felt responses and try to lend a hand.

My first thought-

Canada does besides impact NOTHIN globally via military, SELL computers,as in CPU’s, Video cards, and RAM? Yes?

Dude, buy a machine to support yer hobby.

I paid $180 US dollars ya Canuck, to make a 533 Celery burn AH to 60+ FPS, on AVERAGE.

At 806mhz its a dream, as is every software title I play. If I go to "look up view" in AH, its 80-90+ FPS.

You guys that piss and whine and have a million ideas as to what "image" and "reality" is, and can't front a gaming machine to run SWOTL are laughed at.

Worksome overtime for extra cash, or get a new job, whatever.

But  stop yaking, errr, quiting like SAW with a family crisis every 4 days excuse, and moaning like HTC is unfair.

Jeez, to think a year 2000 hard core flight sim may take at least a 450mhz machine to run it, with a good graphics card.

Upgrade already.

In keeping with my policy not to appease a flamer....

Hi creamo love you too!
The confusing use of the word "break" instead of "quit" in my message was meant to imply that I was coming back when my PC will cut it.
Well....I have a 366 cellery, OCd to 450.
Let me know what I should do!...
The TNT is only half the problem, I also only have 64mbs ram so I would likely have to boost that too.
So I figure 330(cdn) for a Gforce DDR card and 115(cdn) for 64mb of ram. I would think that that should do it.
I would rather just get a new machine and demote this one to my kids Civ II machine and likly will in a few months.
I just bought a new house(not that you care) and the extra little costs make a new system not doable right now.
I just cashed in 200 hrs of overtime to help with house costs....(not that you care again)
I also just moved nearer the Ocean and would like to get a bigger casting rod to wrestle with those salmon...(you might care about that...)
Lots of big houses in the new neiborhood. I guess I could do some B&Es and probably relieve some old foggie of his new video card..maybe put the TNT in his box..probaly never know the diff......hmmm Installing drivers in the dark can be difficult.

So never worry Creamy, I will be back soon to relieve you of that silk you are so fond of...

450mhz is plenty, yup, so the RAM/Vid Card is the prob. 128 is min, and the new GeForce is blazing.

64 RAM =$44
GeForce=$200ish

What picture Rip? If it's this one, it's a 757, not a 737. What's so funny about that?

<Ripsnort looks at a very old 'Chester the Molester' cartoon from a hustler magazine, looks back at the Creamo picture, and spittles all over his monitor , coca cola spraying out of his nose....>

Sorry, that was (snicker) very rude of me (giggles again)!
