Version 1.10 is now available for download.  Special thanks to AKWabbit, AKIron and crew for the new desert terrain.


Aces High Version 1.10 Readme

These are the changes in version 1.10.  Please see the help webpages or download the help file for more information.  IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you have remapped your keys before, you will have to manually map any new key functions in this release.

A training system for new players has been introduced to encourage veteran players to help new players learn Aces High.

Level bombers now have the option to take a formation of 3 planes rather than a single plane.

The bombsight now must be calibrated prior to achieving a successful bombing run.  Once in the bombsight, use U to enter calibration mode and Y to mark a point on the terrain to measure speed.  Click a point on the clipboard to measure the altitude of the target, and press U again to exit calibration mode.  If you have remapped any keys in Aces High, you'll need to map the U and Y flight keys to calibrate your bombsight.

Victory messages are now only broadcast after successfully landing a sortie with two or more kills.

Gunsights now accept a 64x64 256 gray scale file to control alpha.  This file must be in the sights folder and named sightname_a.bmp with sightname being the name of the gunsight the alpha file is for.

Besides the change to the level bomb sight we have added (for offline and training arenas) a dive bomb & rocket sight, a lead computing sight for air to air.

Gun interrupters so that you can no longer shoot through your tail fin or certain parts of the wings. The guns just stop firing when you traverse over those areas.

A list of pre-setup stick mappings can be selected in the stick mapping.

Fixed some items like tail wheels not working on planes that had retractable tail wheels.

Added a stall limiter, this has a number of modes of configuration from the host.
a) No one can use it.
b) Everyone must use it.
c) User selectable.
d) Only new users (1 month) can select it.

The way it works is it does not let you pull elevator far enough to pull into an accelerated stall. Because you can’t achieve max AOA, you won’t be able to achieve max turn rate with it but it will be helpful to new pilots trying to get a feel for things before advancing to normal mode.


The plane and rocket smoke trails have all changed to particle systems.

Air show smoke has been added. This option can be disabled from the host. The default key for this is R.

Added radar circles to the clipboard.

Vehicles and boat entries can now be displayed on the clipboard.

All clip board map options (such as field names) are saved between sessions.

Added new GUI for arena setup which lets CM control each target type hardness and down time.

Changed the field-plane so that enable/disable all planes now works with only the displayed fields.

Fixed the crash plane lockup bug.

Clicks no longer go through the clipboard and change fuel settings and such.

Changed the max min settings of morning and evening so you can set morning past dawn.

Bomb bay doors now have drag (can have small effect on bomb sight calibration)

Bombs now have drag (they no longer hit your shadow)

Chanaged TCP/UDP switch to TCP when ever UDP is not received for an extended period of time. ( this will fix the invisible plane problem)

Change the display time of the last voice transmission user to display a bit longer.

Added the zone strat system.

Changed some display ordering on the clipboard to make things more readable.

On the next release of the terrain editor we now support custom skins included in the terrain for all objects (including planes).

Added Enemy bias so that enemys have a better update when near than friendlys.

Added the following planes: P-40B, P-40E, D3A1, SBD-5, Boston III, A-20G, A6M2, F4F-4, FM2


New Film Viewer features:

Voice and text can now be removed from a film.

Voice and text can now be added to a film.

Different view angles can now be captured and saved in a film.

Film Viewer .ahf file types are now associated with AHFILM.EXE to open Aces High films with just a
double-click on an AH film.
