Been to AGW Lately?
« Reply #15 on: September 03, 2000, 03:16:00 PM »
And a lot of people on that BB cannot see why people left WB's..........HS is an ass, plain and simple.  He has NO people skills, cannot accept even the remotest amount of criticism, be it positive or negative.  If HT and Pyro talked to us that way, I would leave here too.  HS takes the liberty of deleting any post that makes it looks like he might be wrong, only a lot of the time, a lot of us read them before he got to them....did not make the guy look any better.  His "take what we have, if you don't like it get the hell out" attitude was the final straw......v2.75's H2H code was totally screwed, and then he had the audacity to tell us "we have no intention of fixing it.  End of subject..."
To hell with WB's.........WB3 is only gonna be like AH Beta......not worth my time or money.

My reply to that thread:

This WHOLE thread brings to mind these two jokes...you can switch around names and titles depending on which side of the argument your on

Quote
There was a pilot flying a small single engine charter plane, with a couple of very important executives on board. He was coming into the Seattle airport through thick fog with less than 10 miles visibility when his instruments went out. So, he began circling around looking for a landmark.

After an hour or so, he starts running pretty low on fuel and the passengers are getting very nervous. Finally, a small opening in the fog appears and he sees a tall building with one guy working alone on the fifth floor. The pilot banks the plane around, rolls down the window and shouts to the guy; "Hey where am I?"

To this, the solitary office worker replies, "You're in a plane."

The pilot rolls up the window, executes a 275 degree turn and proceeds to execute a perfect blind landing on the runway of the airport 5 miles away. Just as the plane stops, so does the engine as the fuel has run out.

The passengers are amazed and one asks how he did it. "Simple," replies the pilot.

"I asked the guy in that building a simple question. The answer he gave me was 100 percent correct but absolutely useless, therefore, that must be Microsoft's support office and from there the airport is just five miles due East."

A man is flying in a hot air balloon and realizes he is lost. He reduces height and spots a man down below. He lowers the balloon further and shouts; "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised my friend I would meet him half an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man below says, "Yes. You are in a hot air balloon, hovering approximately 30 feet above this field. You are between 40 and 42
degrees North latitude, and between 58 and 60 degrees West longitude."

"You must be an engineer," says the balloonist.

"I am," replies the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," says the balloonist, "everything you have told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I am still lost."

The man below says, "You must be a manager"

"I am," replies the balloonist, "but how did you know?"

"Well," says the man, "you don't know where you are, or where you are going. You have made a promise which you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. The fact is you are in the exact same position you were in before we met, but now it is somehow my fault."

...you got that right Cabby, tons of incorrect assumptions in this thread.

Anyways, as far as the 30mm AGW thread goes, there was a mis-communication on Arena settings that can be found on page 2, and a second thread has been created on the subject:

 http://agw.dogfighter.com/agw//Forum3/HTML/014455.html

Lots of GREAT info on the 30mm in those threads, <S> to the guys on AGW contributing, I wish I could say the same about this thread on this board.

I dont have an opinion about HS either way.
But, I went through that whole thread, read every  one of HS's replys, I dont see anything insulting or wrong with any of them.

Seems to me he was open for discussion, willing to look at any solid data or information he could get that would help with the issue.

I think you guys are being a little critical of him without reason, at least in this case.

Just my opinion, your welcome to disagree no matter how wrong  you would be.

<sigh>

Just a technical note: The difference in Buff hardness explains the difference between HS's test results and mine. In both cases, 20mm rounds were still more effective or as effective as 30mm rounds.

New information has been presented on the fuse design for the Mk108, and HS will be adjusting the modelling of these rounds to reflect this new info.

Just to keep the record straight...

I took a 109-g10 up today with only 1 30mm in the nose.  I made a headon attack on a B17 at about 24k shot at 1000 yards and fired 4 rounds, 2 hit. 1 shell hit each wing. Net result, 1 B17 spiraling Earthward minus 2 wings

LOL Cabby if its so stupid why come over here and comment? the whole Mk108 argument reminds me so much of the .303 argument not so long ago when I left WB, its a shame really because sometimes I hover over the accounts page at iEN just to hook up for a month and say hello to some of the friends I left behind and I must be honest the WW2Arena intrigues me somewhat but as I fly LW iron now will my cannons work anymore?

What exactly did HS do?

Seemed to me that he was being pretty candid, but it also seemed that players did  not have confidence in what he was trying to explain.

Argueing for the sake of it or just position just missing the others point.  I don't know....

I read the thread too.  I didn't like HS aproach on it.

What did HS do?  He spoke before he looked.  He said that everything was right and everyone just didn't understand what was going on.  He used theories to explain away everything that happened as to why the 10 hits did not damage.

Then he (someone else) discovered the settings were incorrect.

People saw something wrong and posted it.  HS argued through quite a few posts as to how wrong they were.  When the settings error was discovered, instead of saying "oops... ignore what I said above".. he said "you see.. I was right.. the settings were just wrong".

I would like to think other people would look into it a tad bit more before being conviced they are so right.  <S> to HTC for changing the 20mm modeling and admitting to sustained turn problems.

After all.. they could have just said it was only an incorrect setting... all of their data was right.

oh.. I particularly liked the "the props stopped the bullets" argument.  That was a real winner.
