Justice in Pakistan
« on: July 04, 2002, 06:53:23 AM »
Just read in the newspaper this morning that in a village in Pakistan a "court" convicted a young girl of walking with a man who wasn't her father or husband in public.  Her punnishment?  She was gang raped in front of hundreds of villagers for the "insult and shame" she brought her family.

A C130 gunship should be sent to THIS village!!!

Bunch of Muslim geniuses over there, aren't they?

I'm sure her father/husband feel better now that there was "justice" done.

All those fine, young Muslim men stepping forward to help out with her sentence must be viewed  by thier own families as Muslim heros.

This was done in public, presumably in front of women and children. Apparently, it was an officially approved sanction.

That pretty much tells you everything you need to know about these people.

There is nothing muslim in this attitude.

It's typical of middle-age mentality it happened in Europe in middle age too ..

I know what you mean, Straffo, but I'm starting to question the Muslim beliefs and culture...

There just doesn't seem to be any major outrage in the Muslim community about this type of thing. You don't see Muslims demonstrating in the streets against suicide bombers or backward and ridiculusly cruel punishments like the woman sentenced to a gang rape. Or hands and feet being chopped off for misdemeanors. And the Muslim countries refuse to take an unqualified position against suicide bombing.

Youth of Islam

I go here often to see what is being discussed... maybe they are not representative of Muslims in general, yet as time goes on, I wonder...

I know personally some muslim and jew from Tunisia and there no comparaison possible between a Jew settler in Occuped territory or a palestinian ...
They can live together without any trouble contrary to what happen in Israel ...

they even discuss about Isreal and share a lot of point of view ... but neither are extremist that's probably why they don't shot at each other :)

Thats interesting...  But they are immersed in French culture. They drink French wine and eat French food. If you put them back on the sand, they might start fighting ;)

Must be an ordinary illiterate journalist's roadkill.

According to Shariat laws the people who rape a not-yet married girl should be sentenced to death. They have all things like that defined as clear as possible, including "what can be considered a sexual act" etc. Shariat is absolutely alien to European morale, and one of the reasons why Chechen war started was that they tried to build a Shariat state, or, in fact, to justify violence and genocide by Shariat. But please remember that there are some civilized countries like Saudi Arabia that have no justice except Shariat.

Cultural differences have to be respected always. For an Eskimo it's OK to offer his wife to a guest. Is it a reason to carpet-bomb them?...

crazies, the lot of them - some day they will become civilized ... maybe

reminds me of a geographic special of some tribe who thinks a cig lighter is magic

but, didn't the girl know what the punishment would be for the "crime" before she did it?
In Saudi Arabia they cut off the hands of thieves. It's the risk they take and I'd guess they don't do it twice...

Arab countries have always been open and free. Arab countries have given the world too much to list.

Arab countries produce many scientific and medical goods and inventions, plus the great literature they bestow upon on the world.

Arabs have great traditions that have withstood the sands of time.

Arab countries strive to make the world a better place for all of us, so please dont knock them.

Every person on earth dreams of living in an Arab Nation
