Author Topic: You see a buff formation, what do you do?!? (Read 186 times)

You're flying along at about 15k in your (insert favorite ride here) and out to your 2 oc you happen to see a coalt, lone B17 formation approaching you. What do you do?

A. You begin to climb and set up for a high slashing attack, hopeing to pick apart the box.

B. You dive and begin to set up for a belly slashing attack.

C. You jam the throttle full and go for a headon attack on the Buff formation, knowing that you will kill all of them in one pass. And if you should get killed, you will just come to the BB and whine about how buffs need to be nerfed.

D. You jam the throttle full go for a DEAD 6 attack on the formation, knowing that you will kill all of them in one pass. And if you should get killed, you will just come to the BB and whine about how buffs need to be nerfed.

E. You call in a few Allies or squadies to help tie up the gunner(s) while you go in for the kill.

F. You wet your pants and run.

G. You say "I'm starting for the target buff now", while at the same time a voice pops in your head saying "use the force."

H. You activate your shields, arm your phasers and go in.

I. You are to busy debating about (insert topic here) on Channel 1 to worry about the buffs.

J. You just ignore them and continue on to your intended target, because you know the buff formation won't it anything anyway and it would just be a waste of time and bullets.

K. Other--------

Remember there is no right answer.

I begin climbing and setting up my "evilly efficient" (as Osage called it

) attack, and proceed to rip the box apart.

B26/B17 box of bombers immediately lit up a "don't attack" light on my monitor

, unles I'm already in alt advantage and can do a fast pass on them.

Which, BTW, in a FW190A, and with a map with fields for buffs to start at 12K, is not much likely ,hehe

Any other buff, I give it a try from the front quarter

I usually start with A...and then proceed directly to D after I screw up my first pass.

But, I don't whine about it on the BB....just to my wife, who usually isn't listening anyway (she has auto-tuneout whenever AH comes up)

J. Ignore them. They probably aren't going to hit anything worthwhile, and the FM2 isn't that great at buff killing.

I havnt seen an enemy buff formation yet.Ive flown two times with b17s online. First time I lost my drones, second time Wierd stuff happened...My Gunners were acting up. Im still getting the hang of the Bombsight.

I use some weird combination of A,B and D.

I climb to get alt on the buffs. I do this from their 6. When Im about 1-2k above and 2-3k behind, I begin a steep dive, level out on their low 6 and watch the tailgunners spray.

I go in below them and pull up from almost directly underneath. I spray and spray as I pull up close to vertical.

Passing their line of flight in the vertical I roll over and do an immelmann. I pull back and spray the same bomber this time from above.

After these two attacks one of two things usually happen. Either I have scored enough hits on one of the wings to break it off (I always aim for one wing), OR Im close to stall speed D400 on the buff box high 6 trying frantically to dive out of the way of all the .50 cals I can feel aiming at my neck.

I circle around the formation and start slowly climbing and closing on his 6.

then I respawn again on the runway.

I ignore them knowing they'll most likely miss whatever target they're trying to bomb, while saving me from having to deal with another fighter.
