OT framerate help please
« on: July 05, 2002, 11:31:05 PM »
Sorry for the off topic post but I am really in need of some help here. My frame rate is steady at 49 no matter what I try. I have just installed the new Geforce 4 4200 and tried every different version of driver I can find. I tried all combinations of vsync on and off, did the refresh rate fix, loaded the new 4in1 drivers. No matter what resolution I run my framerate remains a steady 49. Please help me tweak this thing.

system

Athlon 1900
Asus A7V266
Xtasy Geforce 4200
Winxp

Your complaining about a 49 frames per second?

Uh.......well.....ahem......y our not having a problem if you ask me.  10 frames per second is horrible.  20 is just slightly bad, and anything about 30 is good.

You need to re-evalutate what you think "bad" is from what little you've said.

Are you sure you didn't miss-type 49 instead of some other number?

For the setup  I am running  my frame rates should be at least  doublewhat its running now. Thats the reasons I invested in a high end machine.

When you start up AH, click on video and there's a button where you can check to max frame rate. That might be your problem.

Try setting vsync on with your monitor refreshrate at 100mhz.

This helped me get my FPS up.Try using Anti-Asling set up to 4x4 low detail. This for some reason help also.

I allway thought that if you turn off vsync you would get better FPS but not in this game thats been my expierence.Even turning off AA as some have suggested didn't help.

Thanks for the replys guys. No luck with any of your suggestions. I am really bummed about this. After spending the dough for a Geforce 4 4200 I expected a lot more. Guess I will take it back if I dont get it running right by Monday.

have you locked the fps in video setup withing AH ?
Then it would never go above the the frame rate you lock it on.
Go in there and uncheck any buttons you might have marked.
dunno if this was your problem but worth checking.

I had this type of prob.  I found that is your monitor is the generic defult type the operating system clamps you refresh (FPS) rate make sure you have the monitor drivers and select the correct monitor for use  I went from 59-60 to 85-135 vhen I loaded my ViewSonic drivers and told Win 98se that was the monitor to use
