I've just done about 3 sorties since 1.10 came out so this is a very superficial thing.  Feel free to post your own impressions in more depth.

Anyway, there is 1 thing so far that stands out about this new, huge map.  It's too friggin' big ;).  When you're zoomed out far enough to see the whole map, you can't see any radar data because the field icons overlap and cover about 99% of the pizza.  So you have no idea where the main fights are.  Flashing field icons don't really help because those can be caused by lone milkrunners, and given the size of the map compared to the number of pilots so far, there's PLENTY of room for lone milkrunners.

Conversely, when you zoom in to spread the field icons out enough to see radar data, you completely lose the over-all context.  Granted, I have yet to gain any familiarity with the map's field numbers and overall geography.  But still, when all you can see of this huge map is a square 4-5 sectors wide, it's damn hard to get a feeling for where your little visible area is in relation to everything else.

Maybe there's a command that hides the field icons themselves, not just their numbers?  If there is, I've forgotten it.  OTOH, if there isn't there now needs to be IMHO.  If you could just hide the field icons, you could see the dar bars on the whole map at once.  Then things would be a lot less confusing.

Good things:
-Desert Terrain textures are pretty good.
-Base Numbers are in order! Finnally sombody figured out that it's not easy to find bases when the numbers are randomly placed.

Bad things:
- North Africa has more flat, open land rather than canyons, hills rivers and valleys. I like more realistic terrain - not necesarily generated from topagraphical maps, but as in the same way NDILES gives the feeling of island hopping in the pacific.
-Too big for current AH player base.  Spreading people out only avoids the lag issue, not solve it.
- I'd rather see each team get one slice of the pizza rather than the mixed up hour glass shape.  IMO strategy gets a bit too confusing for the typical gaggle of players found on any of the 3 AH teams.

Overall, I really like it for a change, but I'd like to see the starting base layout be changedbefore having to play this map in another tour.

the good:
* exelent scenary! beautifull. I love the rough desert look.

the bad:
* bases as high as 13K ?! should have been snowy there all year round. this is way way too high.
* the general terrain is much too high.
* nice canyons and valleys, but some of them as just too deep.
* I too would prefere a one teritory country and not split betwin the slices. I guess this was done to increase the frontier length, but i dont like it.
* it's too big.

it needs a little toning down to be good.

I flew a few sorties on the map and have to say I like it. Having said that let me state that I don't like the high alt (drops too many lower alt planes from play) and the desert terrain is a bit hard on the eyes. It seems to shift on the monitor. Other than these two items I like this one. I couldn't care less that it's a "pizza" shape. I'm not here for a reenactment of WW2, I'm here to fight other players in aircraft / GV's and have a good time. The larger map drops all the gang banging I was used to before. It's so spread out it's fairl easy to find a limited numbers fight and not just figure on having to dive into, or be bounced by a horde. HT

Yep there are a few bugs, but as usual, HT will get out the RAID and take care of them.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

It really sucks. This map is really awful. Lag is horrible now, dropped from 60 to now a 25. When I fire guns, it drops to maybe a 5 or less. Bad map, needs dumped.
