I've just done about 3 sorties since 1.10 came out so this is a very superficial thing. Feel free to post your own impressions in more depth.
Anyway, there is 1 thing so far that stands out about this new, huge map. It's too friggin' big
. When you're zoomed out far enough to see the whole map, you can't see any radar data because the field icons overlap and cover about 99% of the pizza. So you have no idea where the main fights are. Flashing field icons don't really help because those can be caused by lone milkrunners, and given the size of the map compared to the number of pilots so far, there's PLENTY of room for lone milkrunners.
Conversely, when you zoom in to spread the field icons out enough to see radar data, you completely lose the over-all context. Granted, I have yet to gain any familiarity with the map's field numbers and overall geography. But still, when all you can see of this huge map is a square 4-5 sectors wide, it's damn hard to get a feeling for where your little visible area is in relation to everything else.
Maybe there's a command that hides the field icons themselves, not just their numbers? If there is, I've forgotten it. OTOH, if there isn't there now needs to be IMHO. If you could just hide the field icons, you could see the dar bars on the whole map at once. Then things would be a lot less confusing.
