EddieK     Vati and I were with him.  Vati clobbered the FM or F4 with 20mm cannon............I walked 4X20mm cannons from stem to stern on that FM and all 3 of us could not shoot him down.  If it was a connection issue, would be coincidence that the 4 of us.....the FM, Vati, EddieK and myself would share the same connection.  I was totally unusuall to say the least.  And I know no cheating was involved.........that F4 or FM must have had 2 inch armor plate to withstand the fuselade of 20mm hits it took.

EddieK don't quit.....Vati and I still here and are chalking it up to being something server related at that time......or.........the FMS F4 must be able to take more damage then anything we've ever seen in many years of online flightsim participation.  :D

Eddie

go cable or DSL...

heck, even dial-up is better for game playing since it's typically steadier than satellite

EddieK,

I don't think you had anything wrong with your connection during that engagment.    Hajo tells me you were fighting the same guy I had just run into.  For the lack of a better way of putting it,  the guy was bullet proof.    I had the misfortune of fighting him 3 times within a hour period and watched in horror as he plane soaked up 20 mm hit after 20 mm hit !!  I fought him Spit 9 VS N1 twice and racked him from nose to tail muli times with nothing but 20mm only to watch him fly around apparently undamged.   I then fought him Spit IX V FM2, again I hit him with nothing but 20's  at less the 400 yards right in the tail .  I clearly saw multi hits ,  nothing ..and I mean nothing fell off him.    Dureing this same time period I mauled another N1, a 205, an F6 and a another F4F.  These planes fell with not problems from very few 20MM hits.    I'm not buying into the rubber bullet non-sence. there was clearly something wrong with the other guys connection.      My guess is the other guys FE wasn't receiving the hit packets.   To put this in perspective,  Hajo, EDO43, and I had the same results fighting this guy.   Hajo, and I double teamed him and both scored multi cannon hits only to be both shot down by him.   I logged in disgust, thinking of going ahead an canceling my account do to this issue to.   I then cooled down and thought better of it.    EddieK,  it wasn't just you bud!!

if it makes ya feel better, I have a average FR of 5 and below on the new map. Yes considered unplayable, but I stick with it cause its fun with all the AH Clowns out there. Give it all time to work out the bugs and stuff in the new version, it's only been a week or so. :D

That is just the way it is.

I'm not sure he's using satellite.  I'm thinking he is using one of those land-based radio tower services, in which case the latency is more reasonable. MarkAT had wireless internet service in Fort Worth for a while and he played AH on it just fine.  Whatever the case, Eddie, get on over to the network forum and post some traceroutes so they can see where you  might be having a problem.

OTOH, maybe you really do need to take a break from the game to avoid getting burned out.  Ih that case see you when you get back.    :)

Eddiek if you need to take a break take a good long one.

But if its just one guy or connect woe's then fix the problem if you can.

I know its frustrating to get behind someone fill them full of lead to watch them fly off. But really, how often is that going to happen?

Take a month off to catch up then come back & kill us all again.

Unfortunately, there are a plethora of ways to implement a wireless network.  I see it is not satellite,...which is good.

Ignore the Internet sales guy that tells you, "our network is 802.x based".  There are several ways to implement this.

1) One method uses a network mesh, where all antennaes are used to relay traffic and the best one wins.  This system is dependent on wide deployment in concentrated living areas.  This is a decent system, requiring special equipment at each antenna/node.  It works well, when deployed in large neighborhoods, but can suffer from thrashing if the deployment is includes too many nodes.

2) Another uses a point-to-point approach, where you get what you get, but it may not be steady as all users are sharing one antenna at the base station (ISP).

3) Then there is the system that uses a mix of the above.  One home in an area is designated a central relay point and others make up the mesh.  Typically, you would see this approach in a neighborhood where the home owners association has an office, or in an apartment complex.  The ISP might run a land line to the central base station, then use wireless to communicate to the base station.  Either #1 or #2 could be used for the wireless deployment.  Or the ISP may use wireless to the base station as well.

Then you have the actual signal.  It may require line-of-sight, it may not.  It may require many repeaters, depending on the distance, it may not.

Basically, wireless is a grab bag.  For the consumer to make a good choice requires a lot of time to understand what is being deployed by the ISP.
Unfortuntely, a lot of ISP's are being sold a bill of goods in this area as they have very little expertise in wireless.  They just know they need to get away from the incumbent telephone company in order to survive.
It is an evolving market and it will get better, but it will take more time.

In the for what its worth department I had the same experience last night. I pulled a perfect sneak on Gball, me in a P-47 D30 and Gball in a F6F. I closed to 300 yards and opened up with all eight 50's. It looked like a fireworks display but there was no visible damage whatsoever. If I find the cat that's loading the rubber bullets in my guns I'm gonna take him out to the parking lot!!! :-)

Would hate to see ya leave eddie :(

I use cable and have a pretty fair connect most of the time. I would have to question on some of the weekends when skuzzy gets sloppy drunk and disconnects the main feed line every once ina while to get his kicks :D
