Nifty, I'm not one of the ones having trouble finding fights in the MA. In fact, the "new" MA to me is pretty much like a bigger "old" MA. I just don't see that much difference given that I almost always fly fighters, almost never drive GV's and rarely fly bombers.
In fact the major difference for me is that I'm usually in a P-40 now. I"m still having my normal amount of fun.
All that aside, given the amount of time the CT has been running with essentially no change in the % of player participation, it seems to me that there must be a fundamental element of the CT that makes it less attractive than the MA to the vast majority of AH players.
I ask myself what are the major differences and which one might be the big "turn off" for players.
Is it the usually restricted planeset?
Is it the Axis V Allied aspect?
Is it the difference in icons?
Is it the difference in radar?
For me it's the artificially restricted icons. I don't mind restricted planesets. There's always some fighter I'd be interested in trying. Axis V Allied is actually a bit of a plus for me, so that isn't it. Radar? As long as there's sufficient range so that when I long in I can figure out what field is close to the action without pleading for info in the text buffer I'm OK with it.
As I said, I'm only speaking for myself here. I have flown extensively, I have flown WW2 aircraft, I have participated in WW2 aircraft airshows and I feel I have a pretty good idea of when/how far away I can tell a Mustang from a -109 and when I should be able to see actual aircraft markings.
While I said many times that I've never found an Icon system in any game that was perfect, I certainly don't think the icon settings in L'Arčne Vide are an improvement over those in the MA.
(For those of you really interested, I've posted what I'd like to see in the way of icons many times on this BBS. A search should quickly turn it up.)
However, as I said, the idea of changing icon settings in L'Arčne Vide is undoubtedly blasphemy. But those settings are what keep me permanently out of the place.
Just my .02.
