A least 1 new Soviet plane coming in 1.11
« on: July 09, 2002, 08:39:44 AM »
HT was in the MA this morning and someone asked about future planes for the VVS and Japan. HT said that so far there is 1 new Soviet aircraft coming in 1.11.

Soooooo...

Which do you think it is? I wonder if it's a fighter or bomber. LaGG-3 possibly? The later model LaGG-3s would fair pretty well in the MA I think. Sort of like a VVS Spitfire.

If it's a fighter, I'd like something with some punch or at least moderate amounts of gas to get it around. Those are the only two things keeping me out of the Soviet planes we have already.

Mig-3? Yak-3?

Hmmm.

Pe-2, LaGG-3 or Yak-3, one of those for sure.

Unless of course, its a P-39 carefully disguised as a Soviet fighter... ;)

I did not say there was 1 new soviet aircraft in the works. I was answereing a question from soviet, and said that we had started work on 1 new aircraft.

Btw it's realy no big deal we start new aircraft all the time.

At one stage HTC were working on the Tu-2 but they stopped due to lack of some data (IIRC). Perhaps they've mamanged to find what they were missing last time?

I'm betting it's the Tu-2, because pyro was asking for stats on it about 5 months ago.

If I didn't list the plane type, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a Yak-3 and the Yak-9U in terms of AH.

About the only benefit of adding of Yak3 is if you put it in Normandie-Niemen colors so that there would then be a "French" fighter in the game.

Probably the next "Soviet" plane in AH would be the traditional Yak-9D, the midwar Yak varient.  It compares to the Yak-9U, as the La5FN compares to the La7.  Basically the Yak-9T we already have, with the single 20mm and x2 12.7mm MG's, instead of the big gun.

Of course I would hope that Pyro would finally give us the Yak-9UT that he promised us about a year and a half ago ;) But I'm not holding my breath.

The Yak 7 would be an interesting early/mid war Soviet plane, or the Yak 1M. I-16/24 would be a hoot. Probably the Tu-2 though.

Yak-3 should be considerably hotter than the 9 as I recall.
