lets start trouble shooting this problem.

I too am getting random lockups (unable to CTLR ALT DEL, I have to reset my system).

I'm running Win98.  Directx 8.1, a Geforce256 with latest Detonator Drivers.

Sb Live

I was running at 1280x1024 Mip mapping enabled at 32bit color

I have since lowered it to 1024x768.

I still get lockups from time to time.

1.09 worked great for me, I don't I ever locked up.

Has anyone tried tweaking anything else ?

If you want to get some help,..there are plenty of people here with a vaste depth of knowledge, but you really need to supply very detailed information about your computer, software, and interrupts as they are used by the hardware.

We need video card details.
We need video driver versions
We need CPU speed and memory sizes
We need to know all devices you have plugged in (PCI, USB...)
We need to know what operating system.
We need to know what type of Internet connection.
We need to know if you are running a firewall
We need to know if you are using an external router
We need to know anything anf everything you can tell us about your computer system from your ISP back to the keyboard.

I think you get the drift, basically, you cannot supply enough details about your computer system to have it be too much data.

From there we can start an analysis of the problem.

I've supplied HiTech with all of the information and I've been frustrated with this for 3 months. each update makes the problem worse. listed in the last post. I've installed new video card, reinstalled system   . I'm getting nowhere fast. I now lock up every flight.

Ok,..let me try this again.

There are users here who have a vast depth of expertise that may in fact have run into problems you are having and know how to cure them.

But, without details posted here, on this BBS, we cannot do a thing to help.  Many people are not having any problems like the ones described here, so in order to help, we need a lot of details.

It is up to you.  If you want help on the BB, then post the information and you may be surprised at the amount of advice you will get.

Guys, system freeszing when in 3D mode is often ralated to dust or system temperature.  No dust and not too hot is what you want. You would be amazed how less your system will develop glitches if you take it out to the back yard and blow it off with a blowdryer or a leaf blower (thats what I use).

Check that out to make sure that that aint the case.

AsusMotherboard with Athlon 900 (Windows 98 SE)
512M (2 DIMMS Mushkin memory)
Creative Geforce 256 32M ram  (Detonator 29.42)
Creative SB Live (Creative drivers dated 5/5/2000)
IBM 7200 RPM 13.5gig drive
Intel 21140 based 10/100 NIC (MS driver dated 4/23/1999)
CH Flightstick PRO USB
CH Pro Pedals USB

Internet connection is a DSL Modem, using a static IP.
no router, and no firewall is in place.  I rarely see a ping higher than 50 to the MA.

I can provide infinite details.

The symptoms simply random lock-ups.  These are hard locks, requiring a system reset.  They seem to be occuring more around explosing.  Two of the recent lock-ups were right after a plane had exploded.

I had never experienced a lock-up prior to 1.10

PS  I have filters over all the intake fans on my case and I clean them regularly.

Are any of the interrupts being shared UnDeth?  I got a hunch.

Good suggestion.  I checked my IRQ's and there were quite a few sharing.

USB
SBLive
Com port 1
Com port 2

Taking the easy route I disabled comport 1 and 2 in bios since I use neither.

I'm going to test this and see how it works.

Thanks,

UnDeth

You will have problems with the SBLive sharing your USB port, if you have any USB devices.

The SBLive does not like to share interrupts.  It ain't sharing friendly.

Go to Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Information.

You will see an entry that shows how the interrupts are being used.
