Could we have an HQ for each zone?  That way whoever controls the zone gets the HQ.

It would make it possible to knock out dar just in the affected zone and add more strat targets.

I agree with this idea, and in fact had assumed this was how it was set up until tonight.

A huge map with absolutely no indication of where the enemy is just doesn't work.  I took off from a base that was flashing its attack indicator (A1), but there were no enemies in that sector that I could find.

Thank goodness AH makes it so easy to change countries (no need to worry about squad, etd).  If I log onto no DAR I just change teams, saves much time and frustration--especially with this new massive terrain.

J_A_B,

If I were to do that I might as well leave the perpetual punching bags that are the Rooks.

The last two nights have had somebody concentrating on, and taking out, our DAR.  Last time I participated in the unsuccessful HQ defense.  This time it was down when I logged on.

I've been a Rook from day one (other than some side switching at the 2001 Con) and I'm not too keen on jumping ship.  I've a rather low opinion of the side switchers you see....

Taking out radar does need to be revisited, and Furious' idea is certainly a good one. Losing radar on this larger terrain infringes a bit too much into the "gameplay" side of things. I know, its supposed to be an inconvenience, that's the idea. However it also needs to be balanced.  On the old maps losing radar was a non-issue, things were small enough that you could still find a furball somewhere to tide you over. On this new one, finding your bellybutton with both hands requires a guide. Switching sides or logging seems to be the preffered choice at that stage...which only males the problem worse.

I agree with you Karnak in that not having DAR on this map is totally unpractical.  It just isn't fun to fly around empty sky for an hour not being able to find anything.

I do the side-switch because IMO it's better than flying around empty sky.  I've only had to do that once as Knights' DAR hasn't been hit much.  I don't have limitless amounts of time to play and if I can't find a decent fight I just get angry.  With 400+ in the arena there's no excuse to be unable to find a good fight, yet it happens in AH due to poor player management.

PS:  Why do you have a beef with side switchers?  It's just a game--it's not like our virtual country affiliations matter to anything.  Or are you referring to the lowlife people who switch to always keep themselves at a numerical advantage?

whats up with the no Dar...  I've play now three different nights and every night (rooks) had no dar for a good amount of time I was there.  I've heard its a bug, and I've heard that someone is simply porking the HQ.

I really haven't got a good answer over the country channel.  Does anyone know?  Is is bug or just someone porking....

No Dar is getting pretty damn old...

I also assumed each zone would have its own HQ, so that blowing the HQ only kills dar for that zone.  Be interesting to hear HTC's take on this deviation from the multi-zone strat model.
