I think the majority of the arena (with a few well-known exceptions) understand future arenas are going to be 512x512. I believe (perhaps in error) that the majority of AH participants are pleased by this.

However, EVEN if you like the current 512x512 map, it's going to get stale fast!

I have no idea how far away other 512x512 maps are in the HTC timetable, so would it be possible to place the other maps back in rotation? Perhaps as new 512x512 maps become available, one of the old 256x256 maps can be retired.

Perhaps we could do: AKDesert, Ndisles, SFMA and Baltic. Later, with a new 512x512 map in hand, we could do: AKDesert, New 512x512, Ndisles, SFMA. And so on until all the 256x256 maps are retired.

HTC, would this be possible?

I really hope the old maps aren't a thing of the past. I don't mind the new one, but I don't want to fly it all the time.

Gotta say this push to get bigger maps in place has me a bit confused. Where is this sudden influx of people expected to come from? What's happening out there in Game Land that's going to cause this huge influx? I've been away sice February, but back then AH had 450-475 people on a busy night. 6 months later they have 450-500. An increase indeed. However its only a few percentage points, certainly not the kind of growth that requires a 4-fold expansion of the arena size.

I gather there must be another piece to this puzzle that I don't know about. Present growth rates would indicate it will be somewhere around 2020 (seriously) before there's enough people to fill the present maps. What am I missing?

Very good idea. What problems would this cause with the arena settings? (i.e.- the new strat) Does that come with the map, or is it an arena setting that would have to be changed?

Also, pertaining to new maps, it seems that many of the peoples' problems with this map is overall size (number of bases vs. number of pilots). We can still have a 512x512 map without filling it completely with land mass containing bases.

Yeah, it should be easy to retro fit the old arenas. One zone per country. Then we could start the rotation back.

Even I don't want the be stuck in the desert with a horse with no name forever!

maps like mindanao.. how difficult would it be to add several more ports per country and then make it 512x512 and have lots of fleet battles in the open sea?

Copy paste the big island bases from uterus around mindanao and add ports to them...

just a few changes that might make it playable for the current #'s...

Why not combine NDisles and Mindanao maps into one? It would make for a great deal of terrain diversity and allow for mega sea battles too.

Time to try my hand at the terrain editor....
