I'm having connection problems that are not related to HTC at all. They're so bad that I'm pinging upto 70ms at first hop and suffering packett loss at that hop also. With Skuzzys help I was able to pinpoint the problem and it's with the Road Runner system in NE Ohio. There is either a router overload or an internal problem according to Skuzzy. Did any of you ever talk with a Techie you couldn't understand? Not to belittle the person, but his accent was so heavy I couldn't understand a dam word he said! He either quit his job at the Liquor Store or quit driving a Cab in NYC. When I told him I was pinging 70ms at the gateway he thought I meant the Arch in StLouis! After half an hour of helping Road Runner Tech support I gave up! I called again today and finally got a techie who understood. These people do not understand latency and packett loss! They don't understand what gamers need in the way of a connection. Hopefully, and with Skuzzys help they now understand my problem with bandwidth and will correct it. Till then it's useless for me to try and play. Anyone with a suggestion would be appreciated. Don't know any other cable providers in the area besides AOL and I ain't going there! Skuzzy you da man!

Good luck Hajo. I was there myself (exact same type of problem, different reason though) when I moved in to my new house in January. Mine was too much RF interference due to having open (and under spec) coax cable splitters on my shared TV cable/Internet system with ATT. The whole house was wired for cable, just not very well

It took a while, but it was finally solved. Hopefully you can find a good DSL or cable provider in your area. Avoid VSAT though (latency).

Tech support at someplaces now is somebody logging tickets and passing them on to the level 2 who gets something fixed.
When I retired from AF couple of years ago I got job working at GTE call center as tech support for several ISP's that GTE handled. I had about 14 years of experience working with PC's and small networks so I figured it would be a good place to start out and work my up.

The job interview was done over the phone.
"Have you ever installed a modem"
"Yes"
"Have you ever setup Dialup networking in Windows"
"Yes"
"You're hired, see ya at work tomorrow"

silliness, but true.

oh I dont work there anymore, a guy can only take so many calls helping somebody setup their dialup networking or Outlook Express. I think I last about a year and a half.

My advice....Call them up again, tell them one of your squad mates is going to come up, hook one end of a big ol rope to a part of their building and the other end to the back of his dually truck and yank down that building if they don't get it fixed. I think ya hear me knockin and I'm coming in bringing Leathal Weapon, Mel Gibson, and a big ol dually with me!
