Trust me...there is a world of difference between the Fw190a5 and the Fw190a8.

The 103 drives those 30mm rounds to more like a hispano rounds ballistics. The 108 is a very short range low velocity weapon and the 103 is the opposit.
I dont know that they were used operationaly on the 190 though. Just trials aircraft I think.
Maybe we could get them on the Me410.

We'll get those about the same time we get 6 cannon Spits.  :)

funkedup,

Heh.  That's very funny.  I thought about posting a snide reference to 6 cannon Spits, but then decided not to be antagonizing.

There are gobs and gobs of this kind of armament for all nations and many aircraft.  The German aircraft just see many, many more such requests.  Why?

I assume this is because the LW used many more different armament combinations operationally per a/c model than the other forces. All those different factory conversion and field conversion sets.
Must have been a nightmare to maintain and supply though.

Pei,

Many, if not most, of these requests are for experimental LW armament packages.

"Wouldn't it be cool..." counts as a 'requesting whine' now?

I also think it'd be cool if we had the Japanese Shinden. Or if we ever get to see the "Flying Wing" concept airplanes.

Am I asking for those too? :D

Geez, I think this "Luftwobbl-ism" is sort of over-hyped. ;)

I think a Me410 armed with Mk103s would be cool.

I don't think that fantasy Fw190s with Mk103 or fantasy Spits with six Hispano Mk IIs would be cool.

I think giving the spits and the 109s the same ability to cater thier gun loads that the US planes would be cool..and fair.

Because these guns were used in combat trials, 6 hispano birds were not. These guns appear in dozens of magazines and books and model kits and the same is not true of the 6 gun spit.
There is about as many requests for 4 cannon spit vbs as there are for german guns like these though. but you dont point that out..wonder why? Maybe your a whiner?

The MK103 was intended for ground attack purposes. It's high muzzle velocity made it an exellent anti-tank gun. But it was not really meant for aircombat, the rate of fire was simply to slow.
And the long barrel and huge loading mechanism made it a dam pain to any FW190 that used it in flight.

MK108 installation could be done in the wing, just increasing weight a bit compared to MG151/20 outboard installation but not increasing drag.
