What are those two little windows in the wildcat for?

I believe they allowed the pilot to visually check gear down.

After taking a closer look I think I was wrong about the windows, doesn't seem to be the right angle to observe the gear, think Swoop may be right.

I think it was the only method, Was watching Discovery wings A couple of days ago and they was talking to a Martlet pilot and he said thats why they have to keep speed down after take off, the slower you are, the easier it is to wind up. Bet thats a nice thing to have to do 'open throtle, Keep nose level,build up airspeed, pull back on stick, WIND, WIND, WIND:D

Wonder how HTC could model that, maybe pump the joystick 30 times while holding down the 'g' key.

LOL, that would be a very 'Interesting' thing to model, then we could change the 262 to make the engines cut out every 5mins, and add the me163 and on landing the pilot melts lol:D

In the I-16 in IL-2 you have to operate the gear "manual". You can even see the handle turn when you are pumpin that button to lower the gear (Ctr+G I believe I use).

It would be bad for my joystick. I prefer to have to type 'CRANK' 30 times to raise the gear.

(mmm, after a second thought it's a damn good idea....everybody with a bad typerate and a good looking female assistant could ask her to come and sit on his lap to help to....ahum....crank up the gear.....)
